Michael Savage: Left-Winger
Copyright 2006 The American Spectator ^ | Friday, October 27, 2006 @ 8:36:18 PM | Posted By: Hunter Baker

I've always known there was something wrong with Michael Savage's schtick. It's intolerable. He talks like an absolute madman. He is just about as intemperate as you can get and still be on the radio.

Now I know what was wrong. The whole thing is a put-on:

Supporting a candidate out of your own wallet may be the most accurate gauge of what a donor believes in his heart. So it should come as a shock to fans to learn where their hero distributes his own political gifts. Which are not ungenerous. Just ask Jerry Brown, the decidedly liberal candidate (pro-abortion, pro-gun control, etc.) for California attorney general.

As the San Francisco Chronicle reports, Savage is a top contributor to Brown's campaign against conservative state senator Chuck Poochigian. His gift of $5,600, the maximum allowable under state law, was merited, Savage told the Chronicle after being outed. Why? Because "You have to make choices in an imperfect world."

RIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGHHHTTTTT.

He's not certifiable. He's just run of the mill nuts/dysfunctional. We can't all be perfect like Dr. Laura.

If Michael Moore supported the conservative agenda I would like him

OK, now add this:

He's loathesome because he's a leftist and hateful and a liar.

You are saying it's OK to lie for our side?

If Moore lied for us like he lied for the left it would be fine?

I think not, lies are lies and spin is spin.

Here you have in a nutshell what I loathe about "conservative" talk radio.

I enjoy the Savage show. He appears to be genuine and committed to true conservative goals.

You are right on the money my fellow conservative FRiend. So are we the fools who know this or are the fools the ones calling us fools? LOL!

no, he says he was first. You have to listen to others and him to realize he is a big fAT LIAR.

Nonsense. Unlike most Weiner-Haters, I actually also listen to and respect Rush, Levin and Hannity, and on each of those issues, he was the very first to take up arms on our side. To say Savage is a left-winger is so ludicrous as to be beneath comment.

Neither is Far-leftist Jerry Brown. Another thing he has in common with socialists.

Hey Bush supported Specter over Toomey, so I guess he can join your list as well.

They passed a bill that did not fully fund it, and if the democrats take over congress, will never be fully funded and as a result never built

I see an "if" in there. You are dealing in speculation.

The Republicans at least introduced this bill.

The alternative would be the dems.

They will have you speaking spanish and apologizing to terrorists.

You are so mad at the Republicans that you would hand everything over to the Dems?

Or do you support a third party? Perot was such a huge winner.

He got us Clinton. Wasn't that nice? Like young Oliver are you asking for more?

Do you know who Jerry Brown is? Do you live in CA? If you did you'd know who the morons are here (clearly you, Brown & Savage)

I know quite well who Brown is. I agree Savage does some nutty, even crazy things at times. But in total, he is dead right on most issues, and to call him a leftist is hilariously stupid. Rush Limbaugh was divorced three times and drugged himself deaf, and was a shill for the Dubai ports deal. However I still listen to and respect him. Perhaps since Jerry Brown is virtually certain to become A.G. regardless (he is 20 points ahead), Savage is trying to curry favor on a tax deal or something. People often give money to candidates for personal reasons, like the Chamber of Commerce giving Bush millions to keep illegal alien labor flowing into America (anyone calling Bush a left-winger? Didn't think so)

You are saying it's OK to lie for our side?

I never said that. I specifically said I don't like him because of that. Spin is not necessarily lies IMO? Maybe I don't know what spin is. To me someone like Rush puts a conservative spin on things. He sees the world through conservative glasses. That's how I look at the world. I think you can be a leftist and not be a liar. Michael Moore is a liar though. If he were a conservative and a known liar, he would not be promoted. The left in this country don't care if he lies because the end justifies the means. Another example is Mark Foley. He got weeded out eventually. He would still be a congressman if he were on the other side.

I enjoy listening to Savage because he gets righteous and angry. Whatever his take, it's not timid. He's not afraid to yell. I like that because sometimes I feel like yelling too about an issue and the calm, reasoned discussion with many talk radio hosts really goes nowhere. There is no better radio than an angry Laura Ingraham.

Because he gets so worked up, I think more about the issues he brings up. He makes me think more about how I feel about an issue.

That's what I've said about him too--I share his rage on many issues, but if I went around yelling I would probably get arrested.

Same foxhole. But, if my Captain is certifiably nuts, I get outta there.

Suit yourself I certainly don't mind being in the same foxhole as Savage but as Capt. Savage I think not, nonetheless I think he's a good motivator and a leader in his own right and right now he's still a voice and has a message that reverberates in CONSERVATIVE circles and boomerangs thru liberal safehouses whether you or your 'enlightened' buddies like it or not.

Hmmm so Savage didn't get invited to the White House along with the other Republican shill talkshow hosts, I wonder why. Thought no one was listening?

He is a phony Conservative, and you have been taken for a ride.

Clearly responding to people who don't listen to Savage is pointless. But again, who is the leftist? Bush wanted nearly unrestricted illegal aliens in America. But 9/11 halted the Bush-Fox plans for that. So he scaled it back, and it was still utterly disgraceful, and DOA in the House thanks to Duncan Hunter, Sensenbrenner et al. Savage opposes all illegal immigration, anchor babies, and supports the Minutemen and deportations. Find me "left-wingers" who support these views. Bush's views are closer to MECha and La Raza than to "right-wing" positions.

I am so bored by this inane, knee-jerk Spectator article so I won't bother commenting on the myriad of other issues on which Savage has demonstrated clear right-wing views down the line.

Weiner fan calling someone else a moron? That is a badge of honor.

Actually, a Weiner, Levin, Rush, Hannity fan calling the American Spectator authors morons for this superficial tripe. Absolutely.

"So if politician actually did something to help your community in a concrete way you would only admire him if he had a R in front of his name?"

You are not in sync with the regular Weiner thread regulars. They and Der Weiner denigrate and spew BushBot, RushBot, etcBot by the buckets. Never mind that Bush is saving their asses whether they like it or not (not apparently).

This is grand hypocrisy on parade. Weiner and his minions only recognize do-gooders if they are democRATS. Weiner gives money to Brown because brown walked a little old lady across the street once. However, if you are a GOPer, you are a "Bot".

Howz that Fishtank?

You are right on. I seriously doubt most of the Savage critics on FR have spent much time actually listening to his show or reading his books.

For the life of me I will never understand why there is so much hatred on FR for Savage. I enjoy Levin, Rush, (to a lesser degree) Hannity, and others. But to other FReepers it seems you can like Levin OR Savage but not both. I just don't get it. Are these paid shills for WABC radio or Levin? WABC GM Phil Boyce once hinted as much to me in an email which I saved. I just don't get it.

These are ALL great Americans. But Savage seems to be alone in daring to tell Bush and the GOP when they are wrong. On Dubai, Rush was a stooge and sounded stupid and out of touch. On immigration it was Savage screaming alone for years until the Minutemen became fashionable, and then Levin, Hannity and Rush (in that order) began to harp on it as well.

Just like Bush and the GOP trick conservatives into supporting Joe Lieberman, one of the most LIBERAL DEMOCRATIC SENATORS because it suits their desire for power?

You keep forgetting about the epic struggle in which we are engaged...our fight for western civilization...the battle for modernity...our war against religious zealots, barbarians, misogynists...you know, terrorist. A point the traitorous rats either do not understand or worse, deliberately ignore to America's peril. I'll take the help lieberman offers against America's enemies.

If you defend and agree with Weiner, then I would contest the fact that you are a "Conservative".

Wow, I'm honored to be listed among FR greats like NYC Republican and Don-o. Checkers should get a little more respect though.

I can't speak for my other bro's, but my main motivation is that Weiner attacks us all. When you fight everyone, everyone fights you. I know that he is a negative force in the Conservative movement.

That's why I fight, and there is a whole lot more comin'
