Michael Savage: Left-Winger
Copyright 2006 The American Spectator ^ | Friday, October 27, 2006 @ 8:36:18 PM | Posted By: Hunter Baker

I've always known there was something wrong with Michael Savage's schtick. It's intolerable. He talks like an absolute madman. He is just about as intemperate as you can get and still be on the radio.

Now I know what was wrong. The whole thing is a put-on:

Supporting a candidate out of your own wallet may be the most accurate gauge of what a donor believes in his heart. So it should come as a shock to fans to learn where their hero distributes his own political gifts. Which are not ungenerous. Just ask Jerry Brown, the decidedly liberal candidate (pro-abortion, pro-gun control, etc.) for California attorney general.

As the San Francisco Chronicle reports, Savage is a top contributor to Brown's campaign against conservative state senator Chuck Poochigian. His gift of $5,600, the maximum allowable under state law, was merited, Savage told the Chronicle after being outed. Why? Because "You have to make choices in an imperfect world."

RIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGHHHTTTTT.

So when did Hillary vote for a military academy for mostly poor kids let alone establish one over the objections of entrenched leftists?

The reality is is that multi-lingual ballots and illegal immigrant pandering is a vote-getting tactic of Democrat (and sometimes Republican) politicians, not a popular movement supported by Liberals.

For Savage to choose issues such as preserving English as our national language, promoting American culture, and protecting our border as his signature causes, is hardly risking offense of Liberals.

Oh, I see. In your opinion Savage only expresses controversial views on issues that won't offend liberals. Is that right? That tells you really don't listen to his show much. Have you heard his views on fighting the Islamofacsists in GWOT and the use of torture? How about his views on same sex marriage or the ACLU? Or his view supporting gun ownership? I could go on and on.

Go over to the Media Matters web site and see what they have say about Savage. I can assure you that the true liberals over at MM and elsewhere are no fans of Savage. He is right up there with Rush and Coulter, he is one of the conservatives that the left absolutely despise

(Rolls Eyes)

Why don't you just try to answer the question?

Savage is wrong on this particular matter, but to suggest that he is oms sort of left-winger is laughable. For some reason, certain conservatievs really want to destroy Savage at any cost.

I didn't say i knew what Savage really thinks but do know what he really said.

Why do you infer some diabolical hidden agenda (how very moonbat) when the explanation Savage gave is perfectly reasonalble?

If he was a true conservative, and not offering blistering criticism and ranting towards conservatives/GOPers on a nightly basis, I'd be his biggest supporter

He isn't, and I'm not

So "true conservatives" are never supposed to criticize the Republicans? I see; got it now.

That would let out Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh too, as they have been very critical of Republicans on spending, the border, and many other things. Sean was on the same side as Savage on the ports deal. Is he a "leftist?

"I know Mike Savage. He's not a liberal."

I'm sorry but every time somebody is accused of a crime, be it murder, robbery, theft or embezzlement you have some mother or friend saying, "I know (fill in the blank) and they would never do anything like that".

I remember reading reading a letter to the editor from someone who had met Bill Clinton and, "looked into his eyes and saw nothing but good".

Everybody has defenders. As far as the donation to Jerry Brown goes that does not even enter into my thinking or opinion. The fact of the matter is Michael Savage has an approach and demeanor that strikes me as being a parody of conservatism. He might well be a conservative, but he contributes NOTHING to advance the causes that we as conservatives believe in.

I agree with you. Michael has always hurt the conservative cause more than he has helped. He tricks some conservatives into buying his stuff, then gives their money to the left. figures.

I am sorry to be right about him, but I am glad you found some real proof.

How about his views on same sex marriage or the ACLU?

I believe he wants to throw RICO at them, which isn't a bad idea, come to think of it.

What else do you have to point to besides Savage's contribution to Brown to support your argument that Savage is some sort of stealth liberal?

If all you can point to is his support for Brown you have a very weak case IMO.

You mean like the thousands of dollars he has given to the Pendleton Eight, whom everyone else has abandoned?

... his style really doesn't persuade the undecided or create new conservatives from the ranks of moderates...

Thoughtful comment. It kinda scratched an itch I've had about him.

It isn't that he shows support for conservatism, it is that he makes us look bad. Is it deliberate?

But, I don't know why someone would go out of their way to cultivate such a false personality.

I suppose it's made him an assload of money, for one. But more importantly, I think he's a trojan horse, set up to make conservatives look bad and sabotage our efforts. He screams and rants from a conservative standpoint about things that have no chance of changing in the immediate future, but always takes the lib side when a real effort is being made to advance a particular conservative idea. For instance, he came out against Social Security reform when Bush was trying to get something done on that front, and came out in support of raising the federal minimum wage requirements when that was on the table. And he got in bed with ultra-leftist Chuck Schumer over the Dubai ports thing.

I don't know if you're aware of his past, but he allegedly had homosexual relations with beat poet Allen Ginsburg, who he regularly attacks now. I don't think the guy is sincere about much of anything.
