KILL MUQTADA NOW (Ralph Peters)
The New York Post ^ | October 26, 2006 | Ralph Peters

Posted on 10/26/2006 5:14:16 AM PDT by beckaz

IT WAS wrenching to listen to President Bush's news conference yesterday. He's struggling to do the right thing. But he's getting terrible advice.

He's still counting on a political solution in Iraq. Ain't going to happen. And you can take that to the blood bank.

Our famously loyal president has one grave flaw: He's a poor judge of character. He trusts the wrong people. Then he sticks by them.

Bush met Russia's Vladimir Putin, "looked into his soul" - and failed to recognize that the guy is an unreformed secret policeman. He stubbornly defends Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, the Pentagon's architect of failure. Now he's standing up for Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki - a man who has decided to back our enemies.

According to the book, Masters of Chaos, the Spec.Forces, 1st US on the ground in S. Iraq, had the opportunity to take out Sadr, after his henchman murdered an Iraqi village leader aligned with the US and they did not for whatever reason!
We definitely did not start this fight with the kill or be killed approach...we must start seeing this as us or them...win at all costs type of war. Forget the PC crap, vote Republican only.

Ralph Peters seems to have the best solution yet for victory in Iraq. I am hoping that after the election, President Bush will harden our response there.

Dang, you beat me to it.

But I really like it....let's see, the new "peace" song of this generation, as opposed to Lennon's "Give Peace a Chance", could be.....GIVE THERAPEUTIC VIOLENCE A CHANCE.

Yeah, that's the ticket..

WE ARE MUCH TOO EASY ON THESE PEOPLE.

Indeed. The fact that Al Sadr and Maliki are still breathing is proof that we need to rethink our strategy, now.

I'm hoping Bush ditches Rumsfeld after the election. I can't see where he's done anything worthwhile in 6 years at the Pentagon.

I respectfully disagree. I'm hoping Rumsfeld stays. I think he and President Bush have done a remarkable job against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

There was an article on Best of the Web, yesterday, from a sergeant who is stationed north of Baghdad. The man was advocating that the US take back control of Iraq and start over training the military and police. He said that the Iraqis don't understand federalism and have divided loyalties that just don't function in the military or police, they need to be thoroughly indoctrinated into the system.

What is really the problem is Islam. It is really a political system that utilizes religion to maintain control of the people. Islam doesn't recognize any other system as legitimate, even other sects of Islam.

Kill Mookie and wait for the riots. Then, kill every rioter you can possibly target. Use BIG weapons - use Vulcans and Sgt. Yorks, and 106 mm recoiless rifles with beehive rounds to kill the crowd, use MOABs to reduce the mosques when they hide there. Collateral damage is desirable in this case.
Pursue his militia and the survivors wherever they try to hide. Kill them when you catch them. Don't capture them. Don't arrest them. Just kill them.

When its done, problems in Iraq will be reduced dramatically.

With the exception of a few comments (like the Rumsfeld opinion), I agree with him. The fat boy needs to be gone.

the rush/bushbots say to fire rumsfield is win for terrorist and the democrats.

That's what makes the following so deeply ironic.

1. Muqtada al-Sadr is still here. Many FReepers want him dead, and wonder why he's still around. The Iraq campaign isn't going well, but the administration decided to keep him around, due to political considerations. "What will people say if we get rid of him? If we let him stay, it will show that we're confident about our course in Iraq."

2. Don Rumsfeld is still here. Many FReepers want him to stay, and wonder what the fuss is. The Iraq campaign isn't going well, but the administration decided to keep him around, due to political considerations. "What will people say if we get rid of him? If we let him stay, it will show that we're confident about our course in Iraq."

Why is this ironic? Because Al-Sadr would be dead if Rumsfeld wanted him dead. People that (a) don't want Rumsfeld replaced and (b) want al-Sadr dead, are living in a paradox. If Rummy went to President Bush and said, "We need to kill this guy, or Iraq is a lost cause", al-Sadr would be dead before he finished brushing his teeth. Er, tooth.

The article is great. It expresses exactly the way I feel. You know, in poll after poll, people are saying they don't like the handling of the war. The stupid dems use those answers as we should pull out. In reality I think the people want the war fought as Ralph Peters states. I for one and getting tired of hearing about our soldiers dying and in the meantime the Iraqi goverment is protecting and making alliances with the groups doing the killing. I say bomb the hell out of them, bring them to their knees and have them beg for mercy, THEN go in and tell them how the cows gonna eat the cabbage. We moved waaaay to fast on this one.

I fear we are back to the Gulf War days when Bush Sr. didn't go get Saddam, because he was only given the go ahead to get Iraq out of Kuwait. It's time we Falluja'd Sadr City. We tell them we're coming (set a date), surround the hornet's nest, then go in at a time of our choosing. Any source of resistance gets destroyed (including mosques). We should plan on dropping Sadr (alive?) at 10,000 feet so that he falls right through the roof of the residence of Ahmadinejad or the Grand Ayatollah in Iran. I think Makiki will get the message, too. It's time to get proactive over there.

KILL MUQTADA NOW ...didn't wehave him nailed down a while back and let him go because of "legal concerns" or some other Clintonian gobble-d-gook?

You mean, when he was hiding in the Imam Ali mosque? That was a fair point for a while, but the guy doesn't live there. He could have been taken out before or after. For that matter, if we really cared about success, we could have given him an ultimatum, and then gone in and got him. I don't buy for a second that Defense wanted Sadr dead, but the iron fist of State blocked the move. It was a calculated move to let Sadr live this long, and that calculation wasn't enforced by Arabists sympathizers at State.

I've been saying for 3 years that since we are not willing to do what it takes to win this war, we won't. It's a sad joke.

Here's the money quote from the main article:

"If we can't leave a democracy behind, we should at least leave the corpses of our enemies."

THAT is a guy who understands war.

Rummy should have had the decency to resign in 2004.

Now, it's too late.
