Without Virginia and Tennessee, the Democrats cannot win control of the Senate. I'd say that poll is pretty good for Republicans.

And when you factor in that most polls oversample Democrats, I'd say it paints a pretty morbid picture for the Democrats' hopes in two weeks.

It will NEVER be reported except a blurb. Let me know if it happens.....there should be MANY Dems prosecuted for this.

The Michael Fox ad could be a death blow. Very nasty stuff.

It seems like Talent should trot out someone who trembles even more than Fox in a campaign advertisement to rebut Fox's claims.

The Dems still have to muster enough energy to stop smoking dope and get out of bed on election day. That's asking a lot.

Probably Talent. And I just got word that there will be a version of the ad running in Wisconsin for the Doyle campaign against Mark Green. Hopefully, Green will be more prepared than Talent was to address the issue forcefully.

Chaffee, DeWine and Kean are three RINOs.

Don't know about the others.

I looked at Barone's political handbook today. I believe Talent won in 2002 by 23,000 votes. Corker, Talent and Allen must win their races. I saw couple of threads today about the Michael J. Fox stem cell ad. I would love to see a quick and forceful response by Talent.
"I support adult stem cell research. Many medical experts believe that adult stem cell research may utlmately lead to cures for crippling diseases. However the evidence on embryonic stem cell reseach is less hopeful. And as someone who believes in the sanctity of human life, we must not sacrifice life in the name of medical research."
I believe a straight forward, honest response would be well receieved by the voters.

You are talking about folks who pay almost the highest property taxes in the nation to live in a toxic waste dump comprised of New York garbage and industrial effluent.

The left coast ain't too swift either...

If she loses the Senate election, would love to see her run for the Presidential . That's called double or nothing.

The research...tumors accompany the use of embryonic stem cell. You'll see very very little on this.

Umm, yeah. Tell me about it. To be blunt, nothing underscores the pathetic state of the GOP this year like how a Republican at 45% leading by two points in Tennessee is considered "good news"...

I was listening to Hannity yesterday and Zogby and Rassmussen were on. I guess Zogby had Corker, allen and Talent ahead, Rassmussen had Allen, Talent and Ford ahead with Burns, Santorum, Dewine way behind. However, I read on a thread today, maybe it was a Hugh Hewitt thread, that Conrad Burns was up a couple. So these polls are meaningless as to who will actually win. What they do show is a number of tight races. So the next two weeks are crucial. As is the ground game. If we do our part victory can be ours. Corker, Talent, Allen, Burns, Steele, Kean have a great shot. So instead of worrying about defeat we've got to fight like hell to win.

"...However the evidence on embryonic stem cell reseach is less hopeful. And as someone who believes in the sanctity of human life, we must not sacrifice life in the name of medical research."

That last sentence would get him killed with the voters. Republicans are taking a beating on this issue because both sides are framing this as religious beliefs trumping medical research. That works well for the democrats but makes the republicans look totally out of touch.

Republicans need to point out that they are only against federal funding of embryonic stem cell research - the private sector can do all the research it wants.

As more and more people are living longer lives and thus developing degenerative conditions, the stem cell issue is going to haunt republicans unless they can get out in front of it and drop the religious angle.

But, these are close enough that with an amazing ground game, we can still pull off victory here, or at least minimize losses.

Enough to keep the Senate, and the Senate is what matters the most. It is who will decide Supreme Court justices etc.

The loss of the House would be bad, but the Senate matters more.

It is so easy to respond to the liberal attacks. I think Melhman and the gang at the RNC should run some ads on this issue. And that's where we come in. We can force them to do this just as we forced the GOP to build the border wall.Just keep e-mailing them and calling them.

Don't know the particulars on lag time for running ads but I am guessing that during a political season, it is something less than 2 weeks.

Also, note the date. The numbers I sited were as of Oct 2, so that would give them time and, if there is a two week lag, would seem to benefit Republicans.

Why not? If she wins the nomination then she might lose by a lower margin than in the Florida Senate race. One way or another she's going to have a lot of time on her hands come January.
