New York: Girls' room his, too (Transgender men free to use ALL of MTA's loos)

Girls' room his, too

Transgender men free to use ALL of MTA's loos

Helena Stone, formerly Henry McGuinness, stands her ground yesterday outside Grand Central Terminal's ladies' room, which can now be used by transgender men.
The line for the girls' room just got longer.

Men who live as women can now legally use women's rest rooms in New York's transit system under an unprecedented deal revealed yesterday.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority agreed to allow riders to use MTA rest rooms "consistent with their gender expression," the Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund announced yesterday.

The group filed a complaint against the MTA on behalf of a 70-year-old telephone repair technician who was arrested for using the women's room at Grand Central Terminal.

The technician, who is assigned to the terminal by Verizon, was born Henry McGuinness but now goes by Helena Stone.

"I'm a 24-hour woman," Stone declared proudly. "I just feel like a woman and I like to wear women's clothes."

The MTA would not comment on the settlement but Stone's lawyer said it also includes mandatory transgender sensitivity training for MTA employees and a $2,000 payment to the technician for legal fees.

Michael Sullivan, Stone's lawyer, called the settlement of the complaint with the Human Rights Commission a "milestone" toward recognition of the city law that prohibits discrimination against transgender men and women.

But some Metro-North riders at Grand Central yesterday were stunned by the ruling.

"I would not like that," said Gloria David, a retiree from Connecticut. "I have nothing against gay men or drag queens, but they can use the men's room. I just don't want to go to the bathroom next to a man."

One rider feared predators might dress as women and lurk in the women's room.

But Rena Gantz, 23, a college student, shrugged off the settlement.

"It doesn't bother me because it is a reality," she said. "If they believe they are women, they should be treated as one."

So now some pervert who wants to peek up the skirts of women can slip on a dress and come it.

That is the real problem with this decision by the MTA.

The vast majority of these individuals are prostitutes, drug addicts and petty criminals.

From where did you learn this?

A male cop cannot just walk into a women's restroom on a hunch to question someone - he has to wait until a female colleague arrives.

Resonable suspicion is all that would be required for any LE person to enter the opposite restroom.

From being a native New Yorker.

In theory, yes. But policework does not always go according to theory.

"mandatory trans gender forced indoctrination training "

Exactly. For all the carping Liberals do about being "sensitive" to the others' points of view, they trample common sense and decency and believe they have a RIGHT to do so.

Unfortunately, the activist courts have allowed this to expand and continue. We need 2 more conservative USSC Justices to put a stop to the abuse of the courts, and this is the reason that the socialists/liberals MUST be kept out of Congress in the elections.

More true Conservative candidates need to be brought forward by flyover country voters to stop this juggernaut. If the Lib's gain control of Congress, and blanket amnesty to about 10 million illegals is implemented, the added voterbase for the Dem's will ASSURE the election of a Democrat to the White House in 2008, and, unfortunately, you could wind up with the Hildabeast....

Had to check my email and this time I really am running but let me respond. Notice I said it was inappropriate for women also (didn't you see the vice versa?). The issue isn't whether unisex clothing is inappropriate, it is the attempt by one gender to pass as another gender. Sure, women wear a lot of what used to be considered solely men's clothing, but seldom do you not realize it is a woman. I would consider a woman who cut her hair into a butch, colored her chin to look like 5:00 o'clock shadow, chemically deepened her voice, using the men's room, or did other things to fool people into thinking she was a man, totally inappropriate. The problem is men dressing as women are trying to pass as women with makeup, heels, falsetto voices, long, feminine hairstyles, perfume, etc. It isn't so much how you dress as your intent to deceive that bothers me.

Now I really will check back in a few hours but I think the discussion is intelligent and respectful and I appreciate your point of view.

One of my biggest peeves is having to acknowledge these freaks as welcome members of my gender. We have to indulge their mental imbalances and personal demons and accomodate them? Sorry, doesn't work for me (and probably doesn't work for most women, only a few have the guts to stand up to it.)

I refuse to call these freaks "she" simply because their pathological self hatred has become so cancerous they're driven to self mutilation and "costuming". Surgically altering one's genitalia and wearing a Victoria's Secret push up bra doesn't automatically make someone a "woman" and its an incredible insult to this biological female (as it should be to any female). Leave it to some idiot liberal male to make such an assumption (afterall, I guess to them, being a woman just means wearing high heels, make up and prancing about in a skirt.)

Some Freeper asked about what NOW's position on this was. I wonder if they'll actually weigh in, or just take the coward's way out.

Thanks for the tip. I'll actually be in NYC in a few weeks, and will have my daughter in tow. My sister won't be around to scare off the freaks, and my sister-in-law is not much taller than I am...

You should be required to have 2 X chromosomes to use the ladies' room.

From my experience working around University police some years ago. The thought that any woman might be in trouble would have put a uniformed officer thru the door to the ladies room without a second thought. Nevermind if the alarm from inside the ladies room went off.

Actually the time you are most vulnerable is when the Ladies room is not busy. The more people around and using it the safer you are.

s to the percentage of transgenders in the sex trades. I have no idea. But there are quite a few who are sucessful with PHds and MDs.

One in 500 to 1 in 1000 men have two X chromosomes. If I'm one of the lucky ones, can I use the ladies' room? (Apparently some very exciting things take place in there, given the ardor with which the sanctity of that place is being defended.)

On the other hand, 1 in 1000 women have three X chromosomes, and 1 in 2500 have just one, or are XY. Do they use the men's room, or are they out of luck?

Well, it was an attempt at a little humor, but since you brought it up, I like the odds.

But, hey, maybe we should just let it go at how you like to dress.

One of my biggest peeves is having to acknowledge these freaks as welcome members of my gender.

Good for you.  Your forthright honesty and dedication to sanity is appreciated by this male stoat.

We have to indulge their mental imbalances and personal demons and accomodate them? Sorry, doesn't work for me (and probably doesn't work for most women, only a few have the guts to stand up to it.)

Agreed.  The problem, of course, is that any public argument against this is now defined as 'hate speech' and is an instant career-destroyer.  Most people have enough troubles in their lives without going out of their way to look for new ones, and so the path of least resistance is usually to smile and make accommodating noises, and then take a hot shower and have a nice gin and tonic when you get home.  It's wonderful when people, particularly ladies, will stand up to this nonsense.

As someone who would like to consider himself a Gent, I am saddened that things have gotten to the point where ladies HAVE to stand up to such horrific ugliness.  I've always felt that ladies deserve better than to be subjected to such depravity in the first place.  I suppose that makes me old-fashioned, but I would like to think that it also makes me civilized.

I refuse to call these freaks "she" simply because their pathological self hatred has become so cancerous they're driven to self mutilation and "costuming". Surgically altering one's genitalia and wearing a Victoria's Secret push up bra doesn't automatically make someone a "woman"

Science, logic and reason are on your side.  Political fashion, unfortunately, is not.

and its an incredible insult to this biological female (as it should be to any female).

Agreed.  I wonder how Black people would feel if all of a sudden it became fashionable for deranged white people to alter themselves so that they appeared Black?  I doubt that it would go over too well, thankfully.

Leave it to some idiot liberal male to make such an assumption (afterall, I guess to them, being a woman just means wearing high heels, make up and prancing about in a skirt.)

Yes, everything is superficial.  To scratch the surface would cause them to confront their own psychoses, and this they will avoid at all costs..

Some Freeper asked about what NOW's position on this was. I wonder if they'll actually weigh in, or just take the coward's way out.

My answer to that post was that they will most likely have a similar response as they did to Bill Clinton's numerous transgressions against numerous women, which was to avoid the entire issue.  After all, he would never allow Roe to be overturned, so anything he did was fine by them.

Queers, the insane and perverts of all stripes all also part of NOW's constituency and so they certainly won't say anything that will upset that group.

You should be required to have 2 X chromosomes to use the ladies' room.

Things are rapidly approaching the point where we as a society must decide to either allow all manner of pervert to make normal, healthy ladies frightened and uncomfortable or we must devise an instantaneous DNA test and restrict access to certain areas for those whose inner makeup doesn't match the outer mascara.

And Democrats are outraged about Foley's not quite cyber sex?? Oh well, beyond that, as soon as the Muslims take over, this issue along with a lot of other Western "liberties" will be solved permanently.

He's the tourist trick for finding safe/clean bathrooms in NYC. Don't tell anyone.

Every single hotel of any size has a bathroom adjoining the lobby, either directly in the lobby or one flight up.

Every single department store has public bathrooms, Saks, Bergdorf's, Bloomingdales, etc. Macy's is actually the worst (on a higher floor).

Chain bookstores have public bathrooms, as do franchise restaurants, which are less nice.

Now, here's the ultimate NYC bathroom story. A woman in need of facilities walks into Frank E. Campbell funeral home -- basically a fancy pants funeral home on the Upper East Side. She's on her way to the crapper when one of the Frank E fellas somberly says, "Are you here for the "Mrs. Smith" funeral?" Too shy to say "No, I'm only here for the bathroom" she says, "Uh, yeah." Then walks into the empty room, checks out the corpse and signs the guest book. A week later a lawyer calls. Seems the dead woman/guy had nobody in the world and left (here the numbers very according to the tell) $500,000, $5 million or $50 million to whoever showed up for the service.

I've actually asked Frank E guys about it and both an assistant funeral director and the guy who operates the elevator swear that it's true.
