In his book, which came out this week, Kengor focuses on a KGB letter written at the height of the Cold War that shows that Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) offered to assist Soviet leaders in formulating a public relations strategy to counter President Reagan's foreign policy and to complicate his re-election efforts.

Why would you think JFK wouldn't like this ? I don't share your high esteem of JFK.

Don't count on anything being done...this was first reported in 2004, per my #161. They'll fall back on the "old news" excuse not to report this in the MSM.

The next time someone tells me there isn't media bias, I'm using this as an example. I hadn't known this was first reported in 2004; thanks for letting me know.

Disgraceful that the spineless Republicans haven't seen fit to even mention this little tidbit.

No military medal was ever issued for the cold war. Instead a certificate was issued to all service members who served during this period.

From the article: Former U.S. Sen. John Tunney (D-Calif.) had traveled to Moscow on behalf of Kennedy...

So, assuming the letter exists, it only directly implicates Tunney, whose reputation is probably expendable. This allows Kennedy to use the "who, ME?" defense and at any rate, it's not clear what he could be charged with. Most likely with ignoring the separation of powers doctrine in trying to do State's job for them. Certainly not 'treason', the Soviets technically not being an enemy.

Pretty tacky, though, if true.

Now that I reread the article, it doesn't say that Kennedy actually wrote to the Russians. My mistake. However, he did send a middle man to the Russians to negotiate for him, and he did this in his capacity as a U.S. Senator. That's just as bad as John F'in Kerry meeting with the North Koreans in France while we were still at war, and he was still on active duty. Both collaborators, both traitors.

BIG DITTO to all that Peach said.

I am steaming today...about this and all of the other underhandedness done by OUR Congress people.

How many things that are ILLEGAL does Kennedy get to get away with????

I am serious...what kind of country do we have...that people like him get to be PAID all of his life by taxpayers...and yet he breaks the law...and then bellows on TV every chance he gets about the current POTUS/CIC...

Calling BUSH a liar and fraud..and all of the names the HE is?????

I think my husband is shocked into immobility at the news that this information has been known about Kennedy since 2004. A murderer AND a traitor and he's beloved in Massachusetts.

I need to go talk to my husband because he's working outside and talking to himself which is never a good sign. LOL

The apple doesn't fall from the tree. His father was somewhat supportive of Hitler's Germany while he was ambassador to England. FDR recalled him from his post because of Joe Kennedy's belief that Germany would overpower England.

Actually he was removed at Churchill's insistence Joe kennedy had been passing secret info on lend lease and British military secerts to the Nazis, and was said to made a deal with Von Ribbentrop for getting a controlling interest in haig and haig scotch in return keeping The United States from helping Britain

years ago I read the book "A Man Called Intrepid"that Churchill and members of the british Secret service discussed his (kennedy) having a fatal accident. God only knows how many American and allied lives Kennedy's greed cost us

My memory is that during the Reagan period the Democrats would pass weapons control bills to the Soviets for their input before presenting them on the floor of Congress. It was always clear that the Dems were the pro-soviet, pro-Castro, pro-Sandinista party. They are responsible for the debacle that was Viet Nam.

Democrats thought it was a fine idea to give North Korea a free nuclear power plant, while opposing nuclear power in the US.

Given the power to do so, they will surrender in Iraq. They fully intend to do so, and are proud of it.

When was the last time the Pubs used anything against a Kennedy? I don't see it happening frankly.

As for Senator "I-Let-A-Woman-Suffocate-In-My-Car-And-got-off-Scott-Free" Kennedy, he does deals with Satan every day. This was probably easy for him.

I'd also wager the kennedy's and by extention the democrats, have been doing dirty deals with America's enemies for decades. Starting with Joe Kennedy himself

Can we question their patriotism yet?

He's very patriotic. You may, however, ask to whom his patriotism is aimed.
