WASHINGTON -- House Intelligence Chairman Peter Hoekstra has suspended a Democratic staff member because of concerns he may have leaked a high-level intelligence assessment to The New York Times last month.

In a letter obtained by The Associated Press Thursday night, Rep. Ray LaHood, R-Ill., a committee member, said that an unidentified staffer requested the document from National Intelligence Director John Negroponte three days before the Sept. 23 story about its conclusions

Sounds reasonable. Then, as a traitor in time of war, why not try her and those of her ilk under military tribunals .. like the insurgents they are .. captured "on the battlefield" of the CIA?

Here is the list of staffers for the House Intel Committee. FYI, Jeremy Bash is married to Dana Bash (CNN).

The leak is already being spun in favor of the liberal communist democrats.

It was only marked "secret" instead of "top secret" and so, the disclosure of only a "secret" government document to the NYT was alright, and there the liberal socialist, communist, democrats demand that the leaker staff member be restored access to the secret, top secret, and super secret documents of this government.

It depends on what the hell "is" means what "sex" really is.

Look at the lead paragraph in the AP's article:
Democrats say there was no basis for the Republican head of the House Intelligence Committee to suspend a staff member who's come under scrutiny for the leak of a secret intelligence document.
Sigh. As Republicans, we can only dream of such passive treatment of a negative story about one of us. I also noticed the Dow-breaks-12,000 story is nowhere on Page 1 of the WaPo. Media bias is wearing us down, spinning us into a "we can't win" mode. It is imperative that the GOP gin up a campaign similar to the 1992 bumper sticker: "Annoy the Media. Re-Elect Bush".

As for this story, can we at least assume lie detector tests will be forthcoming? For both the staffer AND his Dem supervisor?

That was around the same time sKerry mentioned a "Mr. Smith's" real name. It was treated as a "my bad"!

This was covered on Fox in the last half hour, complete with the noting that the democrats said it was "only secret" which Gretchen Carlson thought was a tacit admission that this person DID leak the information, and a rather unflattering still photo of Jane Harmon.

That staffer should reap the punishment of divulging classified information. Agreements I have signed in the past include penalties of up to $250K fine and/or up to 5 yrs in a$$-banging jail.....

She pretty much has gone loopy

Hasn't she ever! Jane Harmon used to be a reasonably sane voice from the RAT side but the power bosses have been whispering in her ears I'll wager.

Nor does she give a fig about what happens to our troops.

I am sure that a deeper investigation will show that the staff member did this for one or more elected democrat house members on the committee.

This could (and should be) the October surprise of the GOP.

". . . call to the committee's nine Democrats . . . prompted outrage, said two congressional officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about internal committee business."

So the Dims are again releasing classified info?

Quoth Jane Harman:

"I demand that you immediately reinstate the staffer's access to classified information"

Nope. She sounds innocent. Must have been someone else.

About a week ago, another FReeper (can't remember who) posted that he had heard from "inside sources" that there might be action before the election from the grand jury that was looking into these leaks. Maybe this is what he meant...

Now if the parties were reversed you know the Feds would do an investigation and arrest the leaker. Chances are the leaker will get away with it....he should be charged with treason.

Jane Harman should stand trial with this treasonous leaker. I have been of the belief for a very long time that this Marxist witch was leaking info to the New York Slimes. She certainly had access and opportunity. Dummiecrats will always look for opportunity to damage this country.
