John Stuart Mill once famously called the British Tories "The Stupid Party." From time to time since then, the Tory's American cousin, the Republican Party, has also earned that moniker. Now may be one of those moments. If current polls and anecdotes are to be believed, there may be a million or two conservative Republicans who are planning to not vote this November.

My son just returned from his 3rd tour in Iraq, and I served during the first Gulf War. I know what terrorists are, bud. To question my patriotism is beyond absurd, it's insulting.

If you think that the Patriot Act will not be used against American citizens at some future date, you are gullible beyond belief.

None of that matters if you don't vote straight Republican.

First off, thank your son for his service, and thank you for your service. We are deeply indebted.

That said, it sounds pretty darn defensive (and possibly abusive) to tell someone to "F U" for simply saying that your comments revealed an "ACLU-like" complaint about the Patriot Act, and pointing out that the VAST majority of people who whine about wiretapping terrorists and tracking terrorist financing are people on the left. Just what is it about the (gasp!) dreaded Patriot Act (which had overwhelming bi-partisan support after 9-11, by the way) to which you object? What of YOUR civil liberties have been or will be curtailed?

And most importantly, how will putting the wacko left in charge do ANYTHING to improve matters of free speech (remember the Fairness Doctrine?), campaign financing (kiss your conservative internet freedoms goodbye), or illegal immigration (the left wants to bring them in AND pay them Social Security benefits)?

Too bad you descended into vulgarity to try to make your point.

OK, I took your comment the wrong way, and I apologize for that...I get kinda worked up when I get questioned about my patriotism because I'm against the Patriot Act. I'm against anything that was drafted and passed without it being read and discussed.

But let's put that all aside for now...it's been a long 12 hour shift.

They sure know how to make people come out, don't they? "Stupid", "Fool", etc. Great argument for going to the polls and encouraging more devastating behavior on the part of "our" side. I still haven't seen "Most important election of our lifetime" yet. The argument seems to be go for the short-term party benefits over the (worse) Democrats, and forget about the long-term for the country--and, not incidentally, liberty.

Remember the FBI files and Hillary? I think she has book on many of them, and they know it. Hillary ran the Justice Dept. during their co-presidency. They fear her releasing whatever she had on them or whatever she had that she could spin about them, in my opinion, and I think she still has those files.
