A new Rasmussen Research Poll shows Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger leading state Treasurer Phil Angelides by 9 percentage points, campaign sources said. Other recent polls, including the L.A. Times survey, have shown Schwarzenegger as much as 17 points ahead of Angelides.
The new poll taken last Tuesday and Wednesday has Republican Schwarzenegger with 49% of those surveyed compared to 40% for Democrat Angelides. Seven percent said they were undecided, and 5% had picked another candidate. The Rasmussen poll surveyed 500 likely voters.
(snip)
In total, 57% of those surveyed had a favorable view of the governor, compared to 44% for Angelides. As for the negatives, 42% of those surveyed had an unfavorable view of Schwarzenegger, while 53% disliked Angelides.

Rasmussen: Schwarzenegger up by nine
The latest poll in the governor's race, by Rasmussen, has Schwarzenegger up by 49-40. That's smaller than the margin in other recent polls but larger than the last California poll by Rasmussen, which had Schwarzenegger leading 47-39.

The unions must be freaking.
the left ought to just put him up by 200 points and quit trying to make it seem close
Now I have a question. How are other Republicans doing or is this another empty victory? If he is doing so well he needs swing a few punches for others running in the state.
I am so glad that the CalDems blew tens of millions of dollars connecting Schwarzenegger to Bush. All that money, down the drain, for nothing. Didn't advance their candidate in the slightest.
Now, could the CalGOP please pop for some money to run the Zucker ad?
Californians had better pray this rabid, tax crazy socialist goes down to defeat. I am one of those Californians that will vote to keep this fanatic leftist out of the governor's mansion.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the best we've got so far, is "competitive", without any actual leads in the down-ballot races. Arnold hasn't really come out for any person other than himself.
Hear hear.
Which one?
I expect the fix was in prior to the primary, pushing the powers that be to support Angelides so that Arnold would have a weaker opponent.
What is the Zucker ad?

This was never a contested race. Angelides loomed on the horizon soon after the recall election destroyed Davis and Bustamante in the CaDEM. That's why the CaGOP Central Committees raced to ban their gubernatorial primary.
That pretty much says it.
Liberal Poizner (R) is a self-funded billionaire running for Insurance Commissioner against the unpopular Bustamante. He is racking up the endorsements from all the left wing papers so he probably is moving toward the "win" column.
I'd love to see some bucks flow to Poochigian, McClintock, and Strickland's campaigns (the latter two are close and the former could use some help against well-known Jerry Brown). And of course, an endorsement of the Republican candidate for U.S. Senate (Mountjoy) would certainly help.
I occasionally read some of the reader comments (all democrat) that folks post on Bill Bradley's blog. Most of them seem to be for Schwarzenegger and lay a lot of blame with the unions for forcing Angelides in the primaries. They seem to have preferred Westly (and now Arnold).
No fix on the CaDEM side. Angelides was the last Democrat, power base left standing after the recall election.
The fix was on the Republican side as the Central Committes raced to outlaw their gubernatorial primary when they identified their most likely opponent. From their perspective, it was a turkey shoot and it will be.
