Strange bedfellows: It turns out that ultra-hot conservative talk show host Michael Savage is backing Oakland Mayor Jerry Brown for state attorney general. "What can I say? I think he'd make a great attorney general compared to the other guy. By the way, who is the other guy?'' Savage said, when asked why he chose Democrat Brown over conservative Republican Chuck Poochigian. Savage, whose rants can be heard locally on KNEW-AM, is backing up his hot talk with some hot money as well. Savage Productions, which lists Savage as president and his wife, Janet Weiner, as director, has donated $5,600 to Brown's campaign. "You have to make choices in an imperfect world,'' Savage said. "And this, this Machugian guy. (Like we said, it's Poochigian.) I never heard of him. I don't even know who he is." Poochigian has spent the past 12 years in Sacramento, first in the Assembly and now in the Senate. Doesn't impress the president of the Savage Nation. "Why bet on a horse that isn't going to win? Why throw your money into the garbage?'' So how did the best-selling author of "Liberalism is a Mental Disorder'' wind up backing a liberal once nicknamed "Governor Moonbeam"? "People change. He changed. He has experience,'' Savage said of Brown. "He started the Oakland military academy -- that was a good thing." And Brown's politics? "He's moved to the center, which is what this socialist state needs," Savage said.

Savage featured Senator Charles SCHUMER of NY on his show not once but TWO times.
Bad enough? There's more --Savage totally KISSED HIS ASS!
I still remember when Savage was a hero to me 8 years ago--called up Tom Lantos, chewed him out, then SLAMMED THE PHONE DOWN ON HIM.
Savage *TURNS* on his friends.
BUYER BEWARE.

Michael's rants on "free market capitalism" show that at his core, he's as Authoritarian as any Socialist could ever want to be. Guy wouldn't know sound economic policy if it was beating him in the head with a pimento loaf.
Some of his rants are dead on though.

Savage can support who he wants, however the only center Jerry Brown ever moved to was the middle lane of a three lane highway !!!

I think Savage has a serious drinking problem. That will impair your judgment, just ask Mel, and the thousands of dead each year killed in auto accidents.

Savage can support who he wants But of course. No one's questioning his right to support Moonbeam, merely his judgement in doing so.

Maybe he is the great white hope (Is he white?) for Air America.

Dr. Savage is a character, invented by an actor, who is making a living off of this persona and laughing all the way to the bank.
In private though, I can say from second hand experience that Dr. Weiner (Michael Savage), when you really get to know and understand him is a first class asshole.

The major error of the Poochigian campaign has been to spend all their efforts knocking Brown while not pushing Poochigian. I've seen television campaign ads from the Poochigian campaign that mention Jerry Brown time and again, but I don't think Poochigian's name or positions are mentioned once. There's only a brief text message at the end with Poochigian's name. They have given Brown such high name recognition they may have well just been a part of the Brown campaign.

Well, I actually think he's right that Jerry Brown has moved to the center, Yup, and I have beachfront property in Colorado to sell.
Moonbeam, if he has 'moved to the center', is doing what all Dims do to win an election.
His track record speaks otherwise and speaks volumes.

He wasn't that horrible as Mayor of Oakland. In comparison to the rest of the Bay Area mayors, he looks like Jesse Helms.
