Keep Darwin's 'lies' out of Polish schools: education official 2 hours.

WARSAW (AFP) - Poland's deputy education minister called for the influential evolutionary theories of Charles Darwin not to be taught in the country's schools, branding them "lies."

"The theory of evolution is a lie, an error that we have legalised as a common truth," Miroslaw Orzechowski, the deputy minister in the country's right-wing coalition government, was quoted as saying by the Gazeta Wyborcza daily Saturday.

Orzechowski said the theory was "a feeble idea of an aged non-believer," who had come up with it "perhaps because he was a vegetarian and lacked fire inside him."

The evolution theory of the 19th-century British naturalist holds that existing animals and plants are the result of natural selection which eliminated inferior species gradually over time. This conflicts with the "creationist" theory that God created all life on the planet in a finite number.

Orzechowski called for a debate on whether Darwin's theory should be taught in schools.

"We should not teach lies, just as we should not teach bad instead of good, or ugliness instead of beauty," he said. "We are not going to withdraw (Darwin's theory) from the school books, but we should start to discuss it."

The deputy minister is a member of a Catholic far-right political group, the League of Polish Families. The league's head, Roman Giertych, is education minister in the conservative coalition government of Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski.

Giertych's father Maciej, who represents the league in the European Parliament, organised a discussion there last week on Darwinism. He described the theory as "not supported by proof" and called for it be removed from school books.

The far-right joined the government in May when Kaczynski's ruling conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party, after months of ineffective minority government, formed a coalition including LPR and the populist Sambroon party.

Roman Giertych has not spoken out on Darwinism, but the far-right politician's stance on other issues has stirred protest in Poland since he joined the government.

A school pupils' association was expected to demonstrate in front of the education ministry on Saturday to call for his resignation.

I not calling you on anything at all. I am just reminding you that keeping track of stuff like that will hurt you in the end. Water off a ducks back and all that.

You realize that if the answer is zero, your opinion is not worth very much.

Gee, that means it's as valuable as yours. Maybe more.

The challenge was the number of hours, roughly, that the poster had spent studying the casts of fossils or human bones.

My answer would be in the thousands of hours.

You sure put your foot in it there, didn't you?

Well as you say in your tag line you are a senior member over at 'darwincentral'.org and I thought maybe you had some influence with your gang when they are over here.

BTW I lurk over there occasionally and today saw where several seemed to be 'recanting' the republican party. However since you have 'self edit' over there, those posts might be gone by now.

actually, one can come up with an objective truth from readibg the research of various scientists findings on both sides of the debate. To say that I have to spend time with the actual casts and bones is a bit silly. It would be nice if you could drop what you want to believe and just look at both side objectively. The truth is pretty obvious.

Yes, from all of my research into the fossil record it is obvious that the much needed transitionals are absent. What they claim to be transitionals are not clearly so. There would be so many thousands of different types of life forms turning into other life forms that the debate would have been over long ago. But they refuse to give up and try and conform some fossils to fit their theory. They are just confused and misguided.

One can also come up with good information from doing some of the actual research first hand. Books and websites are nice, but hands-on research is extremely valuable.

To admit that you have spent no time with the actual casts and bones is quite revealing.

I have spent some thousands of hours with these casts and with human bones. I have some right to an opinion, particularly over the folks at answers-in-genesis and the other apologist sites.

You will believe what you want, but don't call it science.

Sorry, that happens not to be the case.

Well, to anyone looking for the truth it is plain to see. I hope you will see it sometime because you are being confused by your darkside...something most all of us have.

If you want to know first hand what the discussion and conversation is like at a site, visit it. Don't pay attention to someone who's obsessing on it and trashing it in general terms.

So, fundamentalists have found the truth and everyone else is confused by the darkside?

You need to get out more.

All it is is a FR and religion bashing site, with a little mutual admiration club added on the side.

"Fundamentalists"? You mean those who believe Scripture to be true? Yes, many of us have found Scripture to be true. And Scripture does differentiate between those who trust in Jesus and those who have yet to. Or who never will. I pray you're not one of those who "never will."

The entropy trending black void of Darwinian chaos is the materialists' savior, their god.

It takes a special kind of mental obtuseness and ignorance to extol the meaninglessness of meaning.

the truth is obvious to anyone with a little objectivity; fundementalist or not. By the way, I am not one and hardly ever even go to church. Although I probably should. But you are right that I do need to get out more often. I have been doing a little better at that lately.
