With nearly four weeks to go before the Nov. 7 election, a poll commissioned by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review shows incumbent U.S. Rep. John P. Murtha holding a strong lead over his GOP challenger, Washington County Commissioner Diana Irey. If the election were held today, the Johnstown Democrat would coast to an 18th term in the 12th Congressional District, according to results of the poll conducted Oct. 7-8 by Susquehanna Polling and Research in Harrisburg.
Murtha leads Irey 57 percent to 30 percent, according to the survey of 400 voters. Eleven percent of those polled were undecided, 1 percent said they will not vote and 1 percent did not respond when asked for whom they would vote.

This is the first non-campaign poll released on the race in PA-12. But, the sample size is small at 400 LV.

Oh, that's depressing. I hope it's inaccurate.

400 is a very small sample size and is likely not accurate. But in any case it would be a good idea to sent Diana more money.

But, the sample size is small at 400 LV. That's not really that bad a sample size. Certainly a 27 point lead is way outside the 95th percentile margin of error. Murtha has this one in the bag.

May I have your attention please........
A sample of only 400 voters means nothing........
Thank you.
To: okstate
Just another BS poll. This is ALL about suppressing the Republican vote.

That's a shame! That must be a very liberal district if they're still willing to pull the lever for him.

Maybe he has it in the "money-bag" if you know what I mean. I still believe Irey will pull this one out.

With a lead like that, we now know why he does not even want to acknowledge that Irey is even in the race, much less debate her.

This is a media poll, and the Pittsburgh Tribune Review isn't exactly conservative anymore, it's more of a hybrid between conservatism and buchanan wackiness(i.e they are anti-WOT, anti-Israel)).
Also OKstate has been doing his darnedest to depress conservatives on FR with his spamming of media polls.

You are up to your old tricks posting all of these various bogus polls showing the Dems up by unbeatable margins. The only real poll that counts is on election day.

My prediction? There are going to be a lot of poll-loving defeatist FReepers with egg on their faces come election night.
Prediction #2: okstate disappears from FR the day after the election...

this is so funny.. every poll everywhere show the dems up.... same as the last 3 elections.... push polls only go so far. This is the same type of poll that has Nelson up by 30 on Harris in Florida...yada yada blah blah...
the newspapers and networks that get these polls are "making" news.. it's all bs...
go out and vote. let the chips fall where they may.

The sample is small and the bias of the Tri-Rev publisher is large. He backs Murtha because he agrees with Murtha's Cut&Run policy.
