This is too sad. My sympathies to the family and friends of Corey Lidle.

Latest report from Fox is that the plane belonged to NY Yankees pitcher Cory Lytle, that he was the pilot, and that he is confirmed dead in the crash. Something went very, very wrong.

I played against Thurmon Munson. He was a great guy. I actually saw him hit a homerun (straight away center) with a broken thumb on his right hand.

One helluva player.

We lost our pitcher, Thurman Munson, in a private plane crash years ago. Very sad.

You mean catcher.

Much as I hate Charlie Rangel, I'm inclined to cut him some slack on this point. He's not the only one who is stumbling today.

If the Yankee's had won the series with Detroit he would have been in Oakland.

Actually, he would still have been in New York (the Yankees would have had home field advantage) - but I doubt he would have been flying his plane on game day.

I'd pick the water because there would be less chance of killing others.

Then it IS A-Rod's fault!

Okay, I'll stop now.

All baseball contracts are guaranteed unless there is a specific out-clause within the contract.

I was at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore in December of 1976

Yep, I remember that.

WCBS TV - fourth fatality may have been in the apartment building when the plane hit.

Didn't think I wasn't hearing things.

Plain as day, Rangel lamented being in NYC on that Tuesday, September 9th.

***hole

That's exactly what I heard as well.......
