A group of House Republicans called Wednesday for a congressional investigation into the improper handling of classified documents by President Clinton's national security adviser, Sandy Berger. Berger admitted last year that he deliberately took classified documents out of the National Archives in 2003 and destroyed some of them at his office. He pleaded guilty in federal court to one charge of unauthorized removal and retention of classified material and was fined $50,000.

Yes, and thanks to AB and others, it is available in various foreign languages.
Its about time they got some backbone and did something. Berger should have been in jail.
LOL...I think so too!
He's the only politician I've ever emailed and it was to give him a pat on the back for having some balls! This was awhile back though. Too bad it's a rare thing with the Rs.
I'm not sure. I know it was sometime around the 9/11 Whitewash Commission Cover Up Hearings. Berger said he was researching for his Testimony. If thats been 2 years, and an election I'm not sure.
But I hear your point. If it was so important, why didn't the GOP bring it up then.
Three Words. Motivate The Base.
"Why is this sleazeball still in public service of any kind?"
Because the Bush Justice Deparment, for whatever reason, decided not to dish out some real punishment. It's as simple as that.
Where the HELL have they been! About time!!! This was a HUGE CRIME!! Clintonistas strike again!!
To ALL freepers who think this might be a PHOTOSHOPPED picture....it is NOT!! This was a REAL picture in the Green Room of some TV studio I think. They should ALL be in PRISON!!
That anything will actually be done.
You are talking to someone who can't remember today's date...LOL
I am thinking that the 9/11 Commission report came out before the 2004 election..I will check and find out.
The public version of the 9/11 Commission Report came out on June 22, 2004....before the elections...so, Berger HAD stolen the papers by then...and there WAS an election to use that against the Dems.
I just think that the GOP is tired of the dirty tricks...and having Berger going around like dem rock star was TOO much for Sensenbrenner.
The GOP, at this point, has nothing to lose by going for the jugular, IMHO>
I even got the impression that President Bush his feeling that way...by the tone of his presser today...and his speech on the economy.

Rovus, te magnificus illegitimus!
"The GOP, at this point, has nothing to lose by going for the jugular, IMHO"
Are you saying this is politics above principal?
The GOP could have gone for the "Jugular" had they actually punished Berger.
He was caught red-handed, like Clinton and the Blue Dress.
For some reason, the chose not to.

I have already explained myself....I don't know what they are doing ..
If you don't like it bug them...not me.
A.F.T.
Are you implying that the punishment isn't equitable to the crime? Look, Berger is a Democrat, no matter what the guy does his motives are pure (unlike the most evil fascist ever to have walked the earth, and closely following on his heels being none other than Ronald Reagan).
He I seen that on DU, ergo, it must be true. Hey, lookee me: I used "ergo" in a sentance today!
Dude, I don't care what the F%$k he did, he's a Democrat, therefor his motives are pure.
2 years too late IMO.
