By Sheraz Khurram Khan Special Correspondent for ASSIST News Service in Pakistan http://www.assistnews.net/Stories/s06100040.htm

MUZAFFARABAD, PAKISTAN (ANS) -- In an horrific incident of Christian persecution on September 1, some unidentified militants slew two children of a missionary couple who is working with At Any Cost Jesus Mission, a underground ministry evangelizing to the Muslim nations.

A press release sent via e-mail to ANS by Any Cost Jesus Mission said that the assailants torched the dead bodies of teenaged children Shalom, 15 and Sharon 14 after murdering them brutally in the northern district of Pakistan. The teenaged victims according to the press release were secondary school students.

“Shalom and Sharon were kidnapped along with their missionary parents and two other younger sisters 10 days before the murder. The militants asked them to convert to Islam but they refused,” said the press release.

“So the militants killed Shalom first. Then they raped the girl and cut one of her breasts in front of her parents. She too died”, the press release quoted another underground missionary, Habel who it said broke the news to Any Cost Jesus Mission from a hidden place.

Police and the military forces are backing the militants. Habel and his family was also attacked and their house was burnt but the Lord enabled them to escape to a hidden place. They (militants) also demolished a church and some houses were set on fire too”, the evangelization ministry claimed in the press release.

According to the press release the militants set the motorbike on fire by spraying petrol on it and left the dead bodies in a ditch along with a motorbike.

“The police declared a false statement that it was an accident and the petrol tank of the bike was open when they fell into the ditch and burnt by a spark”, alleged Any Cost Jesus Mission.

The press release said that the believers are living in a grip of fear and trouble following the killing of Shalom and Sharon.

The ministry further claimed in the press release that the militants are not allowing believers to pray.

“They are not even allowed to speak a single word about Christ or Christianity or Christians”, the press release quoted Habel as saying.

The tribal people and their leaders are also being murdered by the terrorists in the Neelum Valley, it said.

That specific instruction was given to me by common sense. .....which I substituted with the word 'God' in my post.

Understandable...but sometimes God's calling can defy "common sense". Noah, for example.

If your reading of Scripture encourages you to believe that taking foolish risks with the lives of your children is a good thing, I'm very saddened to hear it and can only hope that nothing awful happens as a result.

Your logic is all well and good - for now. It doesn't take too much of a stretch, however, to envision a future in which merely refusing to convert to Islam in a now "safe" country could be a "foolish risk" to your children.

I do appreciate your opinion regarding putting the children at risk. I would only point out that it is irresponsible to take the focus of blame away from the perpetrators of these atrocities. That's a bit like something a Liberal would do.

Some times missionaries sign long term contracts, and situations change over time. My neighbors were missionaries to Indonesia for over thirty years, they had signed a 35 year contract! All their children were born and raised there. They let them out of their contract because of ill health.

That doesn't tell me anything. I've worked in Moslem countries. I worked for three months in Kashmir's Neelum Valley, where these kids were killed. I've also worked in safe places like Kuwait City which is safer than Los Angeles.

Missionaries assimilate into the culture of where they're sent....the whole family.

When Jim Elliot, Nate Saint & the other missionaries were martyred back in the 50's, at least 2 of the martyred men's wives and their children continued witnessing & interacting with the tribes....

..eventually leading many to Christ, including some of the very men who murdered their husbands.

The children turned out just fine.

They could have found some other way, time or place to answer the call, or they could have left their children home. Our loving God would understand.

Or maybe the Koranimals could have just left them alone and ignored them if they disagreed. Something they continually choose not to do.

Romans 2,3,4. Jesus died so we would have a way to heaven through Faith in him rather than works.

This might draw some fire, but I accuse the parents of gross neglect of the welfare of their minor children. If the parents want to risk their own lives trying to convert muslims to Christianity, that's their own affair; but their minor children weren't mature enough to make such a life-endangering decision for themselves.
The parents are culpable...and I'm sorry as hell for their loss and for the horror that their children experienced before having their worlds destroyed by savages.

Apparently they raised their children properly as Christians. They didn't convert. It is the children that are the true heroes here. It is understood with fellow missionaries that they do NOT have to have their children present in dangerous situations. I have no doubt that children WANTED to be with their parents.

I wish more males had as much courage as these two children. Those two journalists broke and "converted".

He'd probably say incidents like this are an abberation and that the murderers have twisted the peaceful teachings of traditional Islam.

Yes, people including him, will believe what they wish to believe. What I find particularly galling about GWB is that he has an undergraduate degree in WORLD history. He KNOWS better than to speak this slop about Islam being a religion of peace".

Yeah, he probably knows better. ...but the battle to "win hearts and minds" presses on.

The worst, most politically correrct nonsense is reserved for the annual Ramadan dinner at the White House. ....which should be coming up in a couple weeks.

No, muslims were culpable. Missionaries have been taking their children with them for centuries. God placed his only Son in danger don't forget.

You have an April 06 sing up date and yet have only made 5 posts all on this thread. How interesting.

Your attempts to equate muslim intimidation and terror with the Christian equivalent is laughable. If for no other reason than by sheer numbers of occurrances especially in modern times.

I strongly suspect you are muslim. To each his own, but your comparison attempt doesn't hold water.
