Are you sure this picture wasn't photo shopped? Look at the black car in the 3rd parking space in front of the 2 buildings. There is a white spot on the grass in the yard of the 2 buildings almost identical. There is something strange about this picture.
I'mnot worried about NK launching nukes at all; it would be the end of the communist regime for good. I worry about them exporting the technology to terrorist organizations.
I was at the Abbey, praying like mad...so missed GW's speech. (Every Sunday the monks pray for GW, God bless them.) Scanned a lot of comments and came to the conclusion that the President must have spent time on the phone to China. They're the key to controlling NK, if that's possible at this point. But China could demand Taiwan as the price for shutting down NK's food supply, etc.. Presumably some heavy poker playing going on. As for the UN, we know that's a waste of time, and we have to put Kim out of business permanently. If we dither on this one, we're done.

I wouldn't count on that. I can think of 10 off the top of my head that would vote with the rats in a heartbeat. It would not be difficult to get an additional 8. I can only think of 5-10 that would definitely not vote with the rats.
The mistake was letting China fall to the commies in 1949. That mistake was assisted by real commies in the State Department. Their progeny are still there.

He has a very strong Foreign Policy, but that speech sucked! Maybe they were referring to that. Also, this was a great opportunity to get some votes in our corner and I don't know if he did. A lost opportunity. I believe he must be tired after six years in office. His next two are going to be especially tough I believe.
The damage to our country is being done by the likes of the three evening news broadcasters, aided and abetted by Lauer and assorted other America haters.
Our second goal is to prevent regimes that sponsor terror from threatening America or our friends and allies with weapons of mass destruction. Some of these regimes have been pretty quiet since September the 11th. But we know their true nature. North Korea is a regime arming with missiles and weapons of mass destruction, while starving its citizens.
Iran aggressively pursues these weapons and exports terror, while an unelected few repress the Iranian people's hope for freedom.
Iraq continues to flaunt its hostility toward America and to support terror. The Iraqi regime has plotted to develop anthrax, and nerve gas, and nuclear weapons for over a decade. This is a regime that has already used poison gas to murder thousands of its own citizens -- leaving the bodies of mothers huddled over their dead children. This is a regime that agreed to international inspections -- then kicked out the inspectors. This is a regime that has something to hide from the civilized world.
States like these, and their terrorist allies, constitute an axis of evil, arming to threaten the peace of the world. By seeking weapons of mass destruction, these regimes pose a grave and growing danger. They could provide these arms to terrorists, giving them the means to match their hatred. They could attack our allies or attempt to blackmail the United States. In any of these cases, the price of indifference would be catastrophic.
We will work closely with our coalition to deny terrorists and their state sponsors the materials, technology, and expertise to make and deliver weapons of mass destruction. We will develop and deploy effective missile defenses to protect America and our allies from sudden attack. (Applause.) And all nations should know: America will do what is necessary to ensure our nation's security.
We'll be deliberate, yet time is not on our side. I will not wait on events, while dangers gather. I will not stand by, as peril draws closer and closer. The United States of America will not permit the world's most dangerous regimes to threaten us with the world's most destructive weapons. (Applause.)
Our war on terror is well begun, but it is only begun. This campaign may not be finished on our watch -- yet it must be and it will be waged on our watch.
We can't stop short. If we stop now -- leaving terror camps intact and terror states unchecked -- our sense of security would be false and temporary. History has called America and our allies to action, and it is both our responsibility and our privilege to fight freedom's fight. (Applause.)
Our first priority must always be the security of our nation, and that will be reflected in the budget I send to Congress. My budget supports three great goals for America: We will win this war; we'll protect our homeland; and we will revive our economy.

Starvation as a political tool is not something we should be countenancing.

OK, I see it is time for Civics 101 again. REAL life is not a Hollywood action movie. The macho man who ignores orders and plays the tough guy doesn't get the girl and ride off into the Sunset at the end of 2 hours.
Instead people die, possibly many many people, not all of them the bad guys. Not every problem is a nail fit for a military hammer. SOME times blowing the crap out of something makes the situation worse, not better.
A President is not God. He cannot simply decided to have someone killed because they annoy the squad of Always Angry Freepers.
He, unlike the Always Angry, has to live in the real world. He has to consider the consequences of his actions, both short term and a long term on the US, on our Allies, and other regional powers. He has to consider Congress's opinion. He has to consider America's strategic needs in other parts of the world. He has to consider all aspects because unlike the bellicose bellowing of the usual suspects, HIS actions get people killed.
It really easy to be a tough talking macho man when all it costs you is some hot air or key strikes. The President has to make decision that that have very REAL consequences now, and in the future, for all of us. Easy to talk tough, and come up with fantasy land Hollywood Actions movie plots on what should be done when you bear NO consequences for the actions that result.
What is the solution? I don't know. But the problem is WAY more complex then the Always Hating types hanging out here seem to grasp. I am just glad I know who is making the call instead of John Kerry or Al Gore. Easy to be a tough guy with words when other people will be paying the blood price for your macho man talking points
As well as all those that watch them, giving them ratings to keep afloat. They need to be utterly ignored, destroying them, IMHO.
