[history]
THE Dixie Chicks' biggest detractor, FreeRepublic.com founder Jim Robinson, declined to appear in their documentary, "Shut Up and Sing."
[ Snip]
Robinson's rep, Kristinn Taylor, confirmed he ducked the interview: "He told me to go ahead and do it."

JimRob -- they claimed that FR sent out 30,000 letters to their subscription list and organized a boycott with radio stations. I didn't get mine. :) Seriously, they need to be held liable to saying that.

Being successful in the entertainment business has everything to do with the law of large numbers. The Dixie Chicks had a big following and rightly so becuase they are talented. But as far as I can see they have never displayed any talent for political science nor have any government or military experience. Suffice to say that Natalie Maines is not going to get late night phone calls from Kissinger and Associates asking for her help.
Why did the Dixie Chicks disembowel themselves with their fan base? I don't know and don't much care but they did it and they have to live with that.

Meanwhile back at the 'ranch' (aka: Austin Texas)...
Several dozen fans showed up for the Dixie Chicks concert Sunday at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin.
They hadnt heard the trio had rescheduled their show for december, a result of slow ticket sales
over lead singer Natalie Maines comments three years ago about President Bush.
Back in 2003, before a concert in London,
Maines spoke out against Bush and his planned invasion of Iraq.
She said she was ashamed that Bush was from Texas.
BWA HA HA!

It must really bother the Dixie Chicks that Sheryl Crowe, Bruce Springsteen, Roger Waters, Jennifer Anniston, Dave Matthews, Susan Sarandon, and Michael Moore (to name just a few) all vocally and vigorously criticize the president and it has not hurt their careers nor alienated their fan base one whit.
Gosh, what could the difference be, I wonder?

My question is why would anyone want to see a documentry about the Dipsy Chicks. I think the only reason Free Republic was named was to draw a crowd. They know Jim has a larger fan base.

On another note on that gossip page, it seems as though
Keith Olberman's personal ratings are even lower than his broadcast ratings:
October 9, 2006 -- A BROWN-haired beauty who claims she had an unsatisfying one-night stand with
Keith Olbermann is getting her sweet revenge - she's launched a blog to warn other women about the acerbic MSNBC commentator's boorish bedroom habits.

Good points. Typical lib behavior to blame everybody in the universe except themselves for their self-induced problems.
It's amazing how people who finally make it to the big time often end up shooting themselves in the foot. Natalie Maines, meet Martha Stewart.

Jim, I bet you set this up to boost the Freepathon!!!!
And it worked - I made mine.
Thanks.

Ken Sunshine can contribute his best thoughts to this forum anytime he pleases. Little Kenny Sunshine probably wouldn't have the guts to own his comments though. He probably posts here as a pseudo-conservative varmint trouble-maker already.
More FR fame ping.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the difference? I avoid everyone who disses W.
To: Pharmboy
FR had plenty of critics of the Ditzy Chicks. I didn't recall JimRob having a special bee in his bonnet for them (posting threads, leading the charge) in the same way he did for Condit for instance.
To: prairiebreeze
Somehow all I can think of is Laura Ingraham's suggestions: Shut up and sing. LOL
