I'm with you. The Libertarians say it doesn't matter who a man sleeps with as long as he does his job well. I say it does make a difference. Thomas Jefferson said our constitition was for a moral society, it wouldn't work for a degenrate one. Our leaders must have higher standards. When you think about it, the moral decline of our country started with the JFK years.
Thank you for providing the background.
I knew she was "wild-eyed." Now I know she is a wild-eyed sickie.
I wonder what career path she would have followed, if she had lived a few centuries ago.
We need to win just for the sake of the war on terrorism, but I really really really want to deny the democrats the chance to regain power because it will show once and for all that not only will the anti-war cries not work, but neither will the sleaziest of tactics that that despicable party generates.
What will the democrats do if they lose this round when they themselves say this is their best opportunity to return to power? I know they would out their own mothers, but really what kind of mud is left for them to splatter if these latest unprincipled smears don't work?
It is interesting that the Dems have obviously decided that they can't win on the anti-war message alone.
>How many would vote their republican congressman out of office if they found out the representative was gay?<
Not me. I believe a merry, happy Congressman is an effective Congressman (c;
Only because in all likelihood there'd be precious few left, if anyone a'tall.
"This is what comes from defining deviancy down and ethics truces."
All the crap we *see* today, it didn't just start yesterday.
Since [that] *process* began it's very possible deviant numbers either equal or soon will surpass the non-deviants.
Shouldn't be so quick to rule *that* out either, not before taking a damned hard look around.
There's a reason things are as they are, today.
Those *things* won't be changing any time soon either since it's all tailored & maintained to suite *somebody*, huh.
Go ahead, take a guess who it's all for.
One day the remaining non-deviants may learned the real truth behind what's going on, who's really "controlling" most facets of today's life in western society?
Upon that day expect a mass outbreak of something uncontrollable well beyond vomiting.
...that's a fact.
A few of you are wondering why this matters anymore. It's a good question to ask and also a good strategy for some of us to take at this time.....but not all of us!
The GOP needs to get the American people back to discussing the things that matter most to this country and we all know that it is NOT the Gay Mafia or Mark Foley.
However.....AS most of us know, a large segment of our society would rather focus on the torrid and scandalous than the looming and grave threat hovering over our country. So this story has impact, whether we choose to believe it or not.
So I encourage those of you(myself included) at work getting to the truth of this, to continue to dig.
When it ALL comes out, the American people can judge for themselves!!
IT matters folks..it matters because if the American people get hoodwinked by this lastest trick of the left and actually vote these clowns into office, OUR COUNTRY IS IN EVEN MORE GRAVE DANGER!
Plus..if the whole story can not be exposed in time for the 06 election cycle.....it will definitely
have an impact in 08! It will be devastating for the DEMS and FLORIDA will not be in play again for the dems for a very looooog time(hint..hint)!
So hang in there Freepers...this story is a long way from being over.
That two consenting adults had sex with each other is news? Or is the LAT gay bashing?
If such a disclosure would explain RINO-esque voting behavior, that was inexplicable up to that point, I'd vote him (or her) out of office in a heartbeat. But, if this theoretical gay Republican congressman had an excellent conservative voting record, I'm not so certain.
"I had absolutely no sexual interest in him. He was a man twice my age," said Vivyan, who added: "I don't call my self gay, I don't call myself straight."
Vivyan, who is divorced, said he found the congressman's behavior "morally reprehensible" but tried to maintain a platonic professional relationship in which they talked about legislation and "votes on the Hill."
He said that in 1999 Foley invited him and another former page over to his home for pizza. Vivyan said they went and "everything was completely platonic and nonsexual."

"I told my democrat sister about Corn's list. She refused to believe he is a liberal!! I am going to go nuts with her; she is absolutely convinced that it is the Christian right that is doing this!!! AAaaargh!"
Send her to that blogACTIVE.com website, run by that hideous Mike Rogers. All the threats, the list, the innuendoes about Republican figures much higher up than any on the list ... it's there, going back to 2004. No way she can remain in denial after wading through the foul sludge there.
This is not newsworthy so I don't know why the L.A. Times thought it was. This certainly doesn't fit the mantra that Foley was being predatory towards underaged male pages. This fits under the consensual adult relationship, even if it is a perverted and disgusting one.
"about the time Vivyan was getting a divorce."
You're taking slang too literally, maggief.
Nowhere has the Mark Foley story hit harder than among the Republicans' conservative base. We brought together some leading conservatives to talk about it: David Bossie, president of Citizens United; Laura Ingraham, host of a nationally syndicated radio show; and Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council. Welcome, all of you, to "Fox News Sunday." We should point out and I want to apologize here former Congressman Gerry Studds is alive and well. This week, the conservative Washington Times called for the House speaker, Dennis Hastert, to resign now. Let's take a look at what the Times said in its editorial: "Either he was grossly negligent for not taking the red flags fully into account and ordering a swift investigation for not even remembering the order of events leading up to last week's revelations, or he deliberately looked the other way in hopes that a brewing scandal would simply blow away."
Your comments are so true. All this press about this Foley scandal, and their stupid polls are just a way to discourage conservatives from voting. We must stay focused AND we must VOTE against the RATS!
And who was protecting Chelsea when this perv came home after having sex with Monica?? Hillary??
Nothing surprises me with the Dems. But if they think people are going to run to them, they're nuts. There are multiples of Dems who are against homosexual "marriage" and abortion. The Pendulum is swinging and it's not aimed at "lets kill the babies" and let the homosexuals continue their solicitation of our little ones via our classrooms.
Thomas Lifson of American Thinker says it best:
Mainstream members of the homosexual community have a lot on the line with the Foley case. A new rule book is being written for behavior expected of homosexuals with consenting adult young males. It appears at this moment that Foley has not either touched or solicited anyone under 18.Our society as a whole, and specifically our federal government, has already decided that it is perfectly legitimate to be a homosexual and function as a valued member of Congress or federal employee. But now, homosexuality is being treated as a matter of shame, and Republicans are being castigated as insufficiently suspicious of a gay male. Homosexuality is being taken as a danger sign, requiring extra care.
And the fact that Foley is claimed to have had a sexual relationship with a 21 year old former page is making headlines in the Los Angeles Times and beyond. Foley evidently was punctilious about observing the rules.
I always knew you were a player but I dont fool around with pages, declared one instant message from Maf54, a screen name used by Foley in exchanges that have now become public involving a number of male former pages. The former pages account is consistent with Foleys assertion that he did not have sexual relations with minors, a question that will be key to determining whether he committed criminal acts. Although the legal age of consent varies from state to state, in the District of Columbia, where the pages live in supervised dormitories, it is 16.Yet the former pages exchanges with Foley offer a glimpse of possible predatory behavior by the congressman as he assessed male teenagers assigned as House errand runners.
Are gay men from now on supposed to have nothing to do with younger men until they are above the age of consent? What about all those gay scoutmasters the left wants to empower to go out on camping trips?
The mind of middle America is deeply uneasy about the idea that older homosexuals become friends with underage men, and then when they come of age, engage in sex. Thats why the visceral reaction to Foley, whatever the legalities, is so strong.
Shall we propose legislation that criminalizes sexual activities between consenting adult homosexuals if they came into contact before one of them was 16 or 18 or what ever the local age of consent is? And for that matter, what about heterosexuals?
Such a comprehensive law would be welcome, certainly by parents of both boys and girls. But I doubt very much that the gay community is interested in its passage. In fact, I strongly suspect that is a cause it would prefer not to discuss.
But once the point is conceded in the case of Foley that something truly objectionable has taken place, can ordinary homosexuals working in ordinary jobs ever feel secure again? Conceding that homosexuality combined with friendliness to young males is a danger sign warranting official inquiry is a big step in that direction.
And when the frenzy turns to outing or casting aspersions, nobody is safe, even practicing heterosexuals who happen to like show tunes, or have close male friends, or dress more elegantly than others.

I don't trust this guy. I'm sorry, but he put himself into this story, and said in old Foley IMs what he thought about Repubs. I hate to do this, but since he gave his IM name to the media (I posted a link to it on this thread, IIRC), it's out there.
