Then there are narcissitic bloggers like Malkin screeching with piety and ill informed opinions of the matter. They are the ones I truly have iissue with.MM has already commented on this latest at her site...:The Conservative Outing Mob'
. . .includes some posted e-mails; one where 'xx' tells Foley to 'slow down'; does not want to do anything illegal. . .that he is not eighteen until. . .(date).
If this IS authentic; could alter all the above; even if Foley does not 'go there' in IM with boy; Dems are making no room for any fair interpretation. . .Also 'xx' seems clearly to be 'engaging' Foley; as much as Foley is engaging him.
Always thought the answer to Foley's question 'what are you wearing'. . .xx Normal Clothes begged it's own question for starters.
This boy/these kids...whichever. . .are not just 'innocent'. . .at least totally. . .

Um no. I was using the internet in 95 and 96 and FTP, Telnet, Gopher, and Mosaic were the only protocals in existance. WWW had just begun and IM was unknown until the turn of the century.
From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instant_messaging#History:
"AOL had 6M subscribers using instant messaging when an Israeli company named Mirabilis introduced ICQ in November 1996[...]"
I'd imagine the 6 million AOL instant message subscribers didn't instantly appear the day ICQ was introduced.
Until late 98 (at the latest), when I got my AOL IM account, that particular service was for members of the full AOL service only.

The Dems will now be seen to be bashing a gay man for having private communications with a gay man. Their retreat will be complete, or they risk offending their gay supporters.
No, that's too rational. It's more like how some women will cling even more to a man even if he beats them. Some sort of sado-maso-codependency thing they have. In short, your average Dim interest group.
The Dims really are sick people.
To: George W. Bush
I just think they have nowhere else to go once it's revealed this was with an adult gay man. How can they continue to argue it's about pedophilia?

Interesting--not one word about this over at DU. They are celebrating Hastert's impending demise.

No, the guy would appear to be anything but innocent given his quick rise to power in a campaign and his hiring of a criminal defence attorney.
But Malkin isn't interested in that...she isn't interested that ABC lied...she isn't interested that Dems apparently knew what Hastert didn't know until last week.
The most passion I've seen her exercise lately is who stuck her head on a photoshop pic. Which followed with enough whining that other bloggers diverted their resources solely to unearthing who did it. What a great use of conservative blogging resources at the current time....

Yeah, but they're all probably smoking crack and dreaming about "getting Bush". Expect some howls of rage over this when they wake up, around noon as usual, and check the internet before running down to pick up their free government cheese.
To: bnelson44
Apparently it wasn't a kid who exposed the perv, so what's the big deal?
To: Darkwolf377

It's about their lies, which of them are involved, ABC's complicity as a network, the Dims' persecuting gay men for private chatting, this shadowy radical gay group that apparently planned it all for the last year.
Might be a good time to buy pharmaceutical stock. The Dims will soon need to self-medicate. I mean, beyond their usual intake levels.

LOL Noon? Those are what they call the "go-getter democrats".

I have listened to Fox News Radio on the hour for the past three hours. They have said NOTHING about this topic that is any different than what they said this afternoon. Am I missing something? Are they talking about this on FNC?

Some of Foley's sexually explicit IMs were likely sent to this page when he was still 17. I say likely because ABC has done little in the way of telling us with any specificity when IMs were sent and how old the page(s) were at the time the IMs were sent. Their reporting has been sloppy.

Thanks. My PC is in the shop and I am using Webtv for the moment. I also do not have cable TV. As you can see, I am limited to what I can access at the moment!
To: conservative in nyc
Even if that's true, that some happened when he was of the age of consent muddies the water enough that the reporting will have to be "nuanced" enough that they won't bother.
The story simply isn't what it was first claimed to be. That's enough to put it in the "Rathergate" "inaccurate but true" category. There are enough "Yes, but" parts of the story that it's going to have little or no effect on the outcome of the election.

I long for politicians who despise the press and don't give a damn what they think, yet are intelligent and capable of articulating facts. Exactly. The best we have in that category is Rumsfeld.
I would love to see GWB appoint Rummy as Press Secretary during the 'lameduck' period after Nov 2008.

ABC has updated their story on the
Internet Sex IMs to say:
ABC News now has obtained 52 separate instant message exchanges, which former pages say were sent by Foley, using the screen name Maf54, to two different boys who began their exchanges with Foley at the age of 16 and 17, and continued through the age of 18.
This message was dated April 2003, at approximately 7 p.m., according to the message time stamp at a time when the teen had been 18 for just six weeks. (Some sharp online readers spotted that the boy was technically legal when the exchange took place).
It
used to just say:
ABC News now has obtained 52 separate instant message exchanges, which former pages say were sent by Foley, using the screen name Maf54, to two different boys under the age of 18.
This message was dated April 2003, at approximately 7 p.m., according to the message time stamp.
So ABCNews has IMs from a second page, and Foley first started IMing the named page when he was 16 or 17. Their reporting has been very sloppy, but Foley is still scum (even if he started IMing them at 18 he's still scum).
To: Timbo64
Because of the late-breaking factor, it hasn't gotten much air time yet. I think there's still some understandable fact-checking going on. But Sean Hannity did mention it breifly during Ann Coulter's segment on H & C.
