"My word! Democrats on a homophobic witch hunt while invading the privacy of consenting homosexuals?"Now THERE's a nice capsule summary!
LOL!

Why did the Dems want that closed door secret session anyway?

Because, its very likely that this young man got up to some illegal things in the pursuit of this "opportunity."
Now that the FBI is on the case, their hair is probably on fire.. and this young man has obviously been found in their cross-hairs. He picked one of those "Big Name" flamboyant criminal defense attorneys, and this sounds like it is really serious.

"Why did Brian Ross deliberately lie to the public, libelling and slandering Foley as a pedophile and Hastert and others as pedophile-enablers? Why did Brian Ross (and ABC) mix and match email and IMs from two different young men in order to make Foley look even more heinous?"
I can think of one reason. Same reason as the Bush NG records "story."

Thank you for that clarification.
I will argue with you on one point. Most conservative leaders, Christians and otherwise, did not call for Hastert's head. They simply maintained the line if anyone knew of the IM's, they should be removed from office. The ones you refer to did critisize the initial decision not to do a further inquiry into the original E-Mails, but I've done that as have many so there is nothing distinct about it. 20/20 hundsight is what it is, and certainly not to the level of calling for resignation.
I don't see any basis for a lack of faith in their opinions as consequence.
The notable names that have made waves are infact apart from them more then not. Such as Weyrich, WATimes, Kudlow. Then there are narcissitic bloggers like Malkin screeching with piety and ill informed opinions of the matter. They are the ones I truly have iissue with.

WHY are we defending ourselves from the main supporters of NAMBLA over this?!?! That is an EXCELLENT point that should be driven home big time - it goes beyond the Studds / Frank double standard argument and shows the spectacular hypocrisy of the Democrat attack machine. This whole sorry episode could be leveraged to highlight how the Dems support or refuse to oppose the abomination that is NAMBLA, while criticizing a Republican who seems to have engaged in much less than what that organization promotes.

"There's only one hit on any search engine for Tyson Vivyan, which is odd in and of itself, for a former Congressional page. The one hit seems completely innocuous, until you look around the site a bit. It's a high score page for blackjack, at a bar in Atlanta, from 2004. The bar, Burkhart's Pub, is a gay bar."
That is odd but so was his demeanor when I first saw him on TV. I still can't find anything on him and I have looked since I first saw him on Fox then again tonight when I was flipping channels and caught him on Nancy Grace.

I hear you.
Thank you for your gracious response.

"AP Story posted at 4:00pm EDT "he told House Speaker Dennis Hastert's office about worrisome conduct by his former boss, Rep. Mark Foley, toward teenage pages more than three years ago, long before officials have acknowledged becoming aware of the issue."
"AP Story from 9:46am EDT this morning it quotes: I was still pretty shell shocked myself, Fordham said of the day he learned about the messages. This was someone I had worked for 10 years. I had no inkling that this kind of blatantly reckless - just obscene - behavior was going on behind our backs.

We will have the team from Monsters Inc. have at ya when you come back. Only if he has a sock clinging to his back. If they do have to shear him naked, none of us will recognize him.

I dunno about this. If Foley had never messed with any under-aged pages, then why did he resign so quickly?
Foley incriminated himself by that action. I think it's safe to assume now that even if this particular page was 18 at the time, Foley knew he was guilty as charged somewhere back down the line.

Even if Foley did send the graphic stuff to the 18 year old there are still those creepy, but not graphic emails to the 16 year old. That shows intent to have a relationship with a minor, but that didn't happen in that particular case. That shows that he is willing, and that means he's probably tried before, and probably has had a relationship with a minor. Its only a matter of time of finding out where and when. Which is why he resigned. Hes probably guilty of a lot of sick shit we may never know about.

I'm shocked to hear ABC has been misleading. However, the fact Foley's attorney hasn't raised this issue is telling. Also:
Xxxxxxxxxx (8:33:29 PM): ya slow things down a little im still young...like under 18 dont want to do anything illegal...im not 18 till feb 23
Maf54: I want to see you
Teen: Like I said not til feb...then we will go to dinner

ABC News now has obtained 52 separate instant message exchanges, which former pages say were sent by Foley, using the screen name Maf54, to two different boys who began their exchanges with Foley at the age of 16 and 17, and continued through the age of 18. This message was dated April 2003, at approximately 7 p.m., according to the message time stamp at a time when the teen had been 18 for just six weeks. (Some sharp online readers spotted that the boy was technically legal when the exchange took place).
To: jrooney
I though Lucy Ramirez told us that he was under 18.
