I heard that the crew of that submarine never refer to it by anything but its number.

Hey! Watch how you use that name! LOL! But seriously, they actually serve a very critical and useful purpose so it would not be right to compare them to the bent one IMHO.

Excellent news. Jeff, how is the next carrier class(I think the CVX?) going to be differant than the nimitz class?

It will be a carrier that can submerge like a sub.

(I wish! I'd love to see the looks on the enemy's face when they see something like that rise out of the sea to whoop their butts)

Great new carrier. I don't agree with naming ships after living Presidents. CIA Headquarters is also named after Bush 41.

"...I heard that the crew of that submarine never refer to it by anything but its number....."

Wow...sad. Professionals, all doing their job, but no attachment to the vessel other than the fact that it's a sub.

There's alot of talk about reducing to 10 CSGs...that would be another downsizing mistake IMHO, particularly in light of the Chinese buildup.

I think that we (as conservative activists) make damn sure that this never happens. If the Navy thinks about it or if the government tries to sneak it through, we'll let the idiots in charge get an earful.

It's bad enough that Clinton did his damage to the U.S. military. He should not have a ship named after him.

Ok SO the USS ROOSEVELT (CVN 71) is called the "Big Stick"

And the USS REAGAN (CVN 76) is called the "Gipper"

What is the nickname of the USS H.W. BUSH (CVN 77) going to be?

You can thank H Ross Perot and the country club RINOs for that.

Agreed 100% on the Enterprise. That name should pass directly to the new ship that replaces the existing one. I am still heartsick that the WW II Enterprise was not saved as a museum.

In my Dragon's Fury Series - World War Against America and the West I have the US develop precisley what you propose...and then use them to very good and telling effect with a description of the enemy's faces when they see them rise from the depths and start launching F-35s.

They could bring DE 733 out of mothballs and rename it the Clinton.

I hate that they have started naming ships after living people. There are plenty of great, dead Americans that we can name our ships after.

[It's bad enough that Clinton did his damage to the U.S. military. He should not have a ship named after him.]

Here! Here! I would also add that since he never commanded during a time of "war" he does not own the honor that warrants the naming of a weapon after him. Reagan and Bush both led and won decisive and impressive war time victories when freedom had to be defended.

God bless Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush. It makes me proud that 4 acres of sovereign U.S. territory, armed with nearly 90 aircraft and able to go anywhere on the high seas are named for each of them.
