Where'd all the "It's Just Sex"Democrats Go

The Seattle Times reports "House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi wants the House Ethics Committee to put Republican leadership under oath to find out what they knew about Congressman Mark Foley's inappropriate communications with Congressional pages."

In a statement, Minority Senate leader Harry Reid (D) described the allegations against Rep. Mark Foley (R-FL) as 'repugnant.' "Equally as bad," the Nevada Democrat said, "is the possibility that Republican leaders in the House of Representatives knew there was a problem and ignored it to preserve a Congressional seat this election year."

Now wait a minute...

Then President Bill Clinton had not been sending inappropriate suggestive emails and instant messages to a young intern, an act certainly repugnant no matter the authors' politics. He had reduced the previously revered Oval Office, to just a personal sexually perverted play pen.

"Its all about sex." But if you're a Republican, then its a criminal matter. Simple and straight to the Democrats.

Remember Memogate, when it was a "crime" for a Republican staffer to have copies of Democratic memos, but it was "A-OK" for Democrats to plan "dirty tricks" in those memos?
Members of the Senate Judiciary Committee are holding their breath this week as they await a final report in "Memogate," the dust-up over Senate Democrats' strategy documents lifted by GOP staffers from a shared computer server. The documents were internal memos laying out tactics and objections to President Bush's judicial nominees. Mostly, the committee has evinced bipartisan disgust at the act of downloading, studying, and then leaking these memos to the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Times last November.

This man had relations with one of legal consensual age. (And kept at 16 in 1993 by...whom?)

Clinton had relations with one of legal consensual age.

Clinton's adulterous foray, in his workplace during working hours, had no bearing on his work, D's said.

So, then, this is an issue for Democrats...why? Is it only about the use of the internet? About the nature of the behavior? About the age? They're going to end up ticking off their GLBTQ supporters. Oh, the irony.

That's why I put it in quotes(at least originally). If you have a problem with this comparison, then why don't you attack the author?

too many trent lott "go along to get along" McCain style beltway addicts.

The Republicans MUST have elimination of the democrat party as much a goal as eliminating the USSR.

There is one difference here...Clinton was banging a legal age chick....Foley was trying to get into the pants of a 16 yo boy.

As I understand it, 16 is the legal age of consent (though obviously it shouldnt be. 18 would be better)

Yup, the age thing is the kicker. Any arguements comparing Clinton's escapades with Foley's is not compairing apples to apples.

Maybe its just me but I also have not heard that Foley actually had sex with the Page.

Did you miss the part where there was a government movie produced that ALL employees had to see about sexual harassment and none other than Bill Clinton was the star?

IMing an underaged page with sick sexual messages is worse than getting _____ from a full grown woman.

And worse than either of these is pardoning someone who was convicted of engaging in those type of conversations and actually having sex with a sixteen year old! I have seen a lot of discussions re. comparisons to Monica Lewinsky, but I think the Mel Reynolds pardon is the event that truly shows the Democratic hypocrisy on this issue.

I think it would be easy to come up with a dozen of examples of worst Democratic behavior. Shoot, Barney Frank had a gay escort service being run out of his apartment by his 'partner'.
