Scandal: Right after Mark Foley was revealed to have had inappropriate e-mail conversations with a 16-year-old page, he resigned and checked into rehab. Now, what did Democrats know, and when did they know it?
Yes, you read that right: the Democrats. It's of course clear that Foley, a Republican representative from Florida, resigned for good cause. We don't defend him or his inexcusable behavior — good riddance.
But it didn't take long at all after Foley's resignation for the Democrats to call for an investigation of the entire Republican leadership in the House, charging that GOP stalwarts knew early on that Foley, as they like to say in the rehab business, had a "problem."
Democrats have begun losing their once-significant lead in the polls, and a mere five weeks remain until the midterm elections. Is this scandal the Democrats' own "October Surprise," meant to throw the GOP into a tailspin shortly before the vote?
Recent polls show Democrats aren't doing very well on several key issues. What better way than a good, old-fashioned sex scandal to get people's minds off such things as the importance of winning the war in Iraq, our ongoing vulnerability to terrorist attack and the necessity of keeping the Bush economic boom going?
As it is, Republicans deny knowing about the explicit text messages that Foley sent to a 16-year-old congressional page back in 2003. In repudiating Foley, House Speaker Dennis Hastert called the messages "vile and repulsive."
Despite this, the immediate take by Democrats and much of the mainstream media was that this was a classic example of Republican hypocrisy — talking "morals" and "values" while all the time shielding a child predator. But it was nothing of the kind...

I think you are correct this is as much about this year as it is the deep digging believed required to win in 2008.
But a Chat log would have a date as well to mark when an IM session occured.
Why isn't there any dates? Because whoever forged these IM sessions didn't know where Foley was on what date.
Foley could if there were dates prove where he was, it is really that simple, and please don't try to tell me that computer don't mark everything done on them with dates we all know better. even pictures have date stamps as part of their file.

Even the GOP leadership are going after the truth and who held onto these IM's for a few years before . Atleast they are on the offensive about this. So with , hopefully, honest FBI investigators, we will find out that the dims hit squad was behind the cover-up! One request the leadership made to the FBI is "who had these IMs and why did they hold them for a few years and thus exposing other Pages to sexual advances"?
Foley is gone (Praise God) and now the public has a right to know who hid this information.
I don't know. The point is that Foley hasn't denied any of it and the general consensus is that he is guilty as charged. If IMs were faked, certainly that would be an issue, but it doesn't change the fact that the man is a creep. Like I said earlier, my only question is what Democrat knew about this and covered it up long enough to use it at a politically critical time? That Democrat is guilty of a crime.

We must remember and NEVER FORGET, the democRATS want their full power back no matter what happens to these United States. They don't give a rip if this country is suddently attacked again, so long as they get their power back. They would sell their mothers for 10 cents if they could get their power back.. Did Studds express contrition? Resign? Quite the contrary. He rejected Congress' censure of him and continued to represent his district until his retirement in 1996.
• In 1989, Rep. Barney Frank, also of Massachusetts, admitted he'd lived with Steve Gobie, a male prostitute who ran a gay sex-for-hire ring out of Frank's apartment. Frank, it was later discovered, used his position to fix 33 parking tickets for Gobie.
What happened to Frank? The House voted 408-18 to reprimand him — a slap on the wrist. Today he's an honored Democratic member of Congress, much in demand as a speaker and "conscience of the party."
• In 2001, President Clinton, who had his own intern problem, commuted the prison sentence of Illinois Rep. Mel Reynolds, who had sex with a 16-year-old campaign volunteer and pressured her to lie about it. (Reynolds also was convicted of campaign spending violations.)
The R-Louisiana congressman that the page worked for said he reported this months ago. Democrats had no knowledge.

Are we NOT getting it yet?! All they could have come out with were innocuous e-mails that they were shown by one person. They asked Foley to stop with the e-mails and he did.
The Instant messages came out Friday. That's when the Republican leadership saw them...basically after the news was out. Now how in the world were they going to come out with anything "earlier?"

Not just replying, but, happily so.
The media does not report that the page or as the Democrats call him -
" the child " responded in kind to Foley.
The " child " gave chapter and verse details of his private sexual activities and fetishes to Foley.
Including measurements during sexual activities.
Normal teens do not do that.
No excuses for Foley, but, I'm beginning to wonder if the page was the one to initiate the relationship .
Oh honey, this will top the news for weeks! The left wants to make sure the voters know that all republicans are somehow guilty because Foley is a sexual predator! Now sexual predators who have a D after their names are to be admired and even pitied, but any with an R are to be hung from the highest tree!
