Clinton Lied, People Died

War On Terror: The man in charge of the CIA's Osama bin Laden desk on Bill Clinton's watch says that despite the former president's finger-wagging, Clinton did not do all he could to get the man who spawned 9/11.

Michael Scheuer is a 22-year CIA veteran and was head of that agency's bin Laden unit from 1966 to 1999. In a follow-up to Clinton's volcanic interview the week earlier on "Fox News Sunday," FNS host Chris Wallace invited him as one of three counterterrorism experts to analyze the truthfulness of assertions made by the "wizard of 'is' " in defending his pre-9/11 actions, or lack thereof.

Wallace asked the former head of "Alec Station," who'd previously said the CIA gave Clinton eight to 10 shots at killing or capturing bin Laden, why the al-Qaida leader was never killed or captured.

Scheuer responded that Clinton was correct in saying he got closer to bin Laden than anyone. "But, of course, he always refused to pull the trigger," he added.

The people who died on Clinton's watch were members of his administration, most of whom died untimely deaths under suspicious circumstances. No doubt you were better off being an enemy of the United States than being a friend or business associate of the Clintons.

I don't know, but I really think people were starting to listen--at least until this Foley thing blindsided everyone. (Another kettle of worms, I really have to wonder though how ABC was able to get hold of email/instant messages when law enforcement has to jump through all kinds of hoops to achieve the same? If anyone has a clue, please let me know. The timing is just too suspicious.)

Carter gave birth to the monkey, Clinton spanked it.

If I hadn't just recently stolen my latest tagline, I'd give serious consideration to snatching that one.

Interesting point. Guess those that each night bow to a statue of Lenin as they kneel on their Trosky prayer rug, must have a reliable method in quickly accuiring any information that suits their agendas. Makes one wonder ah.

Michael Scheuer 22 year CIA veteran and was head of that Agency's bin Laden unit from 1966 to 1999.

Mr Scheuer could not be employed by CIA for 22 years and head the OBL unit for 33 years. I think it should say 1986 to 1999, but you never know those CIA guys are tricky.

I think it should say 1986 to 1999

Actually, I think it should probably read 96 since even in 86 I believe Bin Laden was unknown by name.

Clinton and his apologists have repeatedly said he shrank from taking action because he feared "Wag the Dog" accusations. He would be perceived as trying to deflect attention from his scandals. His scandals were the result of lies. Therefore, his lies led to his reluctance to act against Al Qaida. His reluctance to act allowed thousands of Americans to be killed. Clinton lied, Americans died.

Perversely, the word seems all too appropriate when discussing Clinton, the only time he did act against AQ was on the eve of impeachment. Perhaps if he'd been impeached more often Bin Laden would have been killed.
