I guess it is good practice to send them up and see how quick we can respond.
It does seem that there are many agencies on edge about something though. Waiting for the other shoe still..

I found it interesting that the only two cities were Boston and New York.
Somehow I thought DC would be more of a target than Boston. OTOH - as the Muslim cab driver told me a few weeks ago when we were talking about tourism following 9/11 he said, "Boston is where it all began. It has more U.S. history than any other city."
Something about what he said and how he said it bothered me.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "PURCELLVILLE, VA, October 11, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) International law and court decisions will have increasing influence on US Supreme Court and Constitutional analysis, warns an American lawyer Michael Farris, head of the Virginia-based Homeschool Legal Defense Association.
The US Supreme Court will increasingly use international, not domestic, law sources to help interpret American law, including the US Constitution, Farris writes."

Insurgents Captured, Iraqi Forces Shut Down Financial Operation
American Forces Press Service
WASHINGTON, Oct. 11, 2006 Iraqi police and coalition forces captured two insurgents Oct. 9 in Samarra, Iraq, and Iraqi police shut down an insurgent financial operation Oct. 9 in Tikrit, military officials in Iraq reported.
Iraqi police and coalition forces conducting a joint patrol captured two suspected insurgents who were attempting to enter Samarra by vehicle through a gap in the citys surrounding berm. A search of the suspects vehicle revealed a sniper rifle. The individuals were detained for questioning.
The combined patrol also apprehended an individual after receiving small-arms and indirect fire at a checkpoint. After determining the point of origin of the indirect fire, Iraqi police found and detained a man who had a mortar tube and mortars in his possession.
Elsewhere, local police, supported by special Iraqi army forces, conducted a raid Oct. 9 in Tikrit against a local hawala allegedly used by individuals and businesses to provide financial support to insurgent groups. Police detained 16 individuals.
The hawala, an informal local financial system for banking and money exchange, was allegedly being used by insurgents and criminals to hide money made through illegal activity and illegally funneled into Iraq. The daylight raid was based on tips from Iraqi citizens.
Iraqi police and army forces, with coalition advisors, shut down the suspected illegal financial activity that was directly supporting foreign fighters and the ongoing insurgency. This support was directly responsible for attacks targeting Iraqi civilians as well as Iraqi security and coalition forces.

More Than a Dozen People Quarantined in Downtown Hagerstown, Md.

Possible hazmat incident reported in Hagerstown
Several blocks shut, tent set up in downtown area for people taken ill
A feared hazmat situation resulted in several blocks of downtown Hagerstown being shut this evening as emergency responders tried to determine what was going on, officials said.
Details were sketchy, but a yellow tent, apparently for decontamination, was set up near 25 W. Franklin St. downtown, The Herald-Mail reported.
Conflicting reports circulated on the number of people stricken ill with flu-like symptoms.
[some area residents who said they saw bodies laid out (covered) on the pavement and that the huts in the street are housing those that are sick (quarantine?) But they also report seeing 3-5 large buses and numerous ambulances inside the enclosed area.]
