Jews and Christians should send Christmas cards to the ACLU
email | unknown

Posted on 10/01/2006 10:11:29 AM PDT by ml/nj

I'm passing this on because I think it's a good idea.....I plan to spend 39 cents for a stamp..... hope you will do it too!

Yes, Christmas cards. This is coming early (really early) so that you can get ready to include an important address to your list. Read on........

What a GREAT idea!

Fun with the ACLU...... Wanna have some fun this CHRISTMAS? Send the ACLU a CHRISTMAS CARD this year.

As they are working so very hard to get rid of the CHRISTMAS part of this holiday, we should all send them a nice, CHRISTIAN, card to brighten up their dark, sad, little world.

Make sure it says "Merry Christmas" on it

Here's the Address, just don't be rude or crude. (It's Not the Christian Way, you know!)

ACLU
125 Broad Street
18th Floor New York, NY 10004

Two tons of Christmas cards would freeze their operations because they wouldn't know if any were regular mail containing contributions. So spend 39 cents and tell the ACLU to leave Christmas alone. Also tell them that there is no such thing as a "Holiday Tree". . . . It's a Christmas Tree even in the fields!!

And pass this on to your email lists. We really want to communicate with the ACLU! They really DESERVE us!!

Just have to share how snopes.com is attempting to discount this movement.

Claim: E-mail proposes an effective scheme for overwhelming the ACLU's operations with Christmas cards.

Status: False.

Origins: This piece first began circulating at the tail end of 2005, during the so-called "War on Christmas" controversy...

It is based on the erroneous assumption that the ACLU engaged in litigation and related tactics to pressure businesses and other entities into dropping the use of the word "Christmas"...

Above all, perhaps, one might consider whether engaging in deliberate deception and attempting to sabotage an organization's operations over a chimera isn't the antithesis of what Christmas (and Christianity itself) is supposed to be about.

Why would a Jew send a Christmas card to anyone?

many, if not a majority, of the ACLU'a leadership (at both the national and state level) is comprised of secular Jews.

Send them Chanukah cards. Try to find Chanukah cards that show the huge public menorahs from all over the world.

I hate to break this to you, but many, if not a majority, of the ACLU'a leadership (at both the national and state level) is comprised of secular Jews.

Even more of a reason to send them Christmas cards!

Why would a Jew send a Christmas card to anyone?

I think Jews would probaby feel more comfortable sending Hanukkah cards.

Actually, I do give Christmas cards to my Christian friends, and I make a habit of telling everyone I see during the Christmas season "Merry Christmas," since it's a safe assumption that most people you see in public will be Christian. And being Jewish, if someone says "Merry Christmas" to me, I smile and give them a big, "Thank you! And Merry Christmas to you too!" I can't imagine why people would get upset when someone wishes them a Merry Christmas, especially a stranger who would never know that you're NOT Christian. Unless they're just looking for something to get upset over.

My Christian friends who know I'm Jewish do wish me a Happy Hanukah.

Why wouldn't I want to wish my Christian friends a Merry Christmas? (Hanukkah cards are a joke.)

I must be thick-skulled... I have never understood how it is possible to be a "secular jew"... anyway, send them Happy Hanukkah cards too. That should do it!

You're my kind of person! My best friends are jewish (I'm a convert at heart if not in form) and they do not get offended when people wish them Merry Christmas...it's a way of showing appreciation to people and not a curse!
