The United States and its allies will fail in the so-called "war on terror" without the support of Pakistan and its intelligence service, Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf said Saturday, September 30.
"You will be brought down to your knees if Pakistan doesn't co-operate with you. That is all that I would like to say. Pakistan is the main ally. If we were not with you, you would not manage anything. Let that be clear," he said.
"And if the ISI (Inter Services Intelligence) is not with you, you will fail. Let that be very clear also. Remember my words: if the ISI is not with you and Pakistan is not with you will lose in Afghanistan."
Musharraf recorded the interview after talks with British Prime Minister Tony Blair in London on Thursday, September 28.
In a collection of memoirs entitled "In the Line of Fire," Musharraf further said that US intelligence has paid Pakistan millions of dollars for handing over Al-Qaeda suspects it has captured.
"We have captured 689 and handed over 369 to the United States. We have earned bounties totalling millions of dollars," Musharraf says in his book, which was released on Monday.
"Those who habitually accuse us of 'not doing enough' in the war on terror should simply ask the CIA how much prize money it has paid to the government of Pakistan," he says, without specifying where the money came from.

Your opinion is shared by me and many others. Having a free media may have once been a benefit for this country, but their efforts to help our enemies has changed that.
I would like to think that.
And also Iran and Syria and Mecca and .......
Sounds like that's just where you belong.
you man the same ISI that colluded to kill innocent Indians as well? yeah, sounds like a group we really need to be working with....
really, if pakistan fell to the islamonazis, it might be good because we wouldn't be too worried about sending troops into waziristan anymore and hurting our "allies" feelings.
OK, so if the whole Middle East disappeared ... with the exception of Israel, our problems would pretty much be over.
So if we fail in Afghanistan, it is Pakistan's fault for that shows that they weren't really with us after all.

If they were "really with us" and not just faking it, they wouldn't be accepting bounty money at all. They would just turn them over as the right thing to do.
LOL. Never cheered anyone. I just didn't defend the MSM who are just as much an enemy as anyone else.
Did anyone in the Bush admin criticize Pakistan? Musharaff needs to differentiate between the actual leaders of this country and the "loyal" opposition and their water carrying msm.
Just as bomb threats rather than actual bombing can throw society into chaos, so apparently can accusations from those who have no accountability/responsibility if they are mouthed often enough and loud enough.
He and a few in his government and ISI are keeping things going.................He is risking his life every single day to do so...............If he goes under, lookout.
He needs our respect and our support, period. Do we judge Bush by everything the demonrats do? Of course not. Bush cannot control everything that happens, neither can Musharraf (and even to a lesser degree).
The government leaders in Iraq know that they could be killed any day for their support of freedom, and, they are not now able to control everything that happens in Iraq..................Musharraf knows that he could be killed any day for supporting freedom, and, he is not now able to control everything that happens in Pakistan. I think we should include him in our prayers.................
Even our friends are our enemies. Just what does Pakistan expect from us?
When push comes to shove, all Muslims will unite against the West. It is time to get REALLY TOUGH!
I'm confused as to why these reporters wish for the U.S. to fail in the WOT. Their lives won't be in any less danger if we fail, and possibly even more danger.
Because they will do ANYTHING to make the U.S. secular (meaning non-Christian). In their opinion, Islam is just a 'passing fancy' that will go away after the enlightened among us talk with the leaders of Islam and point out to them that they really should be nice. Translated that means: If the Dems take over everything will be peachy keen because the wacko Islamists will be hugged into cooperation and as part of the 'hugs' any and all religion, with the exception of Christianity, will happily florish and everyone will 'get along' and the press will be part of the 'heroic' leftwing endeavor that brought about this utopia. And no, I am not exagerating - they do think this way.
I can't argue you this. These media idiots, I guess, don't realize you cannot "hug" yourself out of the enemy's desire to kill you while they are hacking off your head with a dull rusty blade.
"Paksitan will fall to Islamism before the next year is done... if not sooner and we cannot do a thing to help them."
Umm...why can't we help them?
What would you imagine we COULD do short of invading and taking over? We already have been refused the right to enter the country with our own troops to help Mushie take out terrorists. That is because he cannot control his military and if we were to go in there many of them would turn on us.
He is increasingly being isolated and his country is turning more Islamist all the time. He is losing his battle for control and won't live much longer as the leader of that failed state. He has already barely escaped several plots against him.
We may as well realize he is lost to us as his capabilities to help us are fast waning!
