Mitt Romney lies about abortion
Red State ^

Posted on 09/27/2006 11:07:20 AM PDT by SDGOP

In his latest interview with RedState, Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney responds to a question about his abortion position by saying that he's never adopted the label "pro-choice."

That's all well and good. Mitt Romney wants to be called pro-life. I'd like to be the King of all Londinium and wear a shiny hat.

But let's not kid ourselves: there is no substantive difference between the position labeled "pro-choice," declaring your support for "the right to choose." And that is something that Mitt Romney has done repeatedly over the course of his political career. To say otherwise is to tell a lie.

I agree there some McCain hit trolls

Interestibly enough, in 2000 Cyndi Mosteller, was the "National Policy Advisor for Family & Cultural Issues" for the McCain campaign.

Just another attack by the Manchurian Candidate on Romney. What part of Article VI doesn't he understand? Oh wait, he didn't understand the First Amendment either, did he.

"So I guess when Jesus commanded his apostles to go two by two and preach his gospel he was doing so to deliberately annoy people?"

That's what the Romney bashers(aka Mccain, Inc,) would have you beleive.

"He's the governor of Massachussetts. Calling himself 'pro-life' in that state to please a bunch of politically ignorant retards who don't even live in that state would be political suicide"

Are you calling pro-life voters "ignorant retards?"

It's unusual that he hasn't reponded to my questions about his posting. But maybe he had something else to do.

Did you check your brains at the curb today? Just because someone doesn't like Romney - doesn't mean they are pro-McCain.

McCain can not get my vote.

Right now I'd hold my nose and vote for anyone else. Hopefully I'll only get one opportunity to vote against McCain and that will be in the primary.

No, that doesn't really summarize it. Tailhook is an officers' organization (not cadets), and ostensibly several dozen women (most civilian, but some female officers) were molested in a "gauntlet" in the hallway, not "one female officer" being "harassed". The investigations and results were pretty murky.

We just don't have the choice we had back in 1980 or 1984. Those were the days.

True. But who knows, maybe Romney will grow into the job if he gets it.

These so called Reagan folks don't know what to say when you should them in black and white!

Romney has the same stand as Reagan on life!

You've proved my earlier point:

"He gets a bad rap on Free Republic largely, I believe, because he's the Governor of Massachusetts. People wrongly see him as a RINO."

Until I research him more, I cannot say that I would vote for him. Abortion is a big one for me. I could not support someone that was pro-choice, or that had a rather convenient recent change of heart on the issue. Yes you are right, his being the Governor of arguably the most liberal state in the nation does make me cringe. I have to learn more about him but so far I would say his biggest asset is charisma.

"Romney COULD have used the national guard and had them open up on Fat Matt with a .50 machine gun but he did not."
Irrelevant

"Fat Matt was protected before and after the roof fell in by his democrat friends in the Mass. Legislature. Again do a little research."
He was not so protected. He could have been removed, despite what what you are smoking.

"His health plan will end up saving the state of Mass. Millions of dollars, but that doesn't play well to the red meat rednecks down south, who don't trust anyone north of the mason dixon line."
Your ad hominems and lack of logic do NOT support socialized medicine
including where illegal aliens will still get free health care.

Bzzzzt. WRONG. I understand the "health plan" where small business owners
will be forced out of Massachusetts leading to
it continuing to lose citizens (while loading up on illegal aliens)

Sorry, but Frist is the REASON we have the Alito and Roberts ...

Pure revisionism. Frist threatened multiple times to nuke the filibusters but did nothing. Now *maybe* he was really planning to do it, but he was preempted by the so-called Gang of 14. It sucks, but there's no denying that they are the reason Alito and Roberts are on the bench. And IMO McCain was the mover behind the Gang.

But, of course, nothing can redeem his attack on Free Speech.

Just personal opinion here but I don't think he has the backbone to be a world leader.

Got any critical incidents you'd like to share? Sometimes regional differences in a person's mannerisms lead people to make incorrect judgments. For example, I'm sure you know how many people from New England incorrectly think people of the South are ignorant because of their mannerisms.
