Pure revisionism. Frist threatened multiple times to nuke the filibusters but did nothing. Now *maybe* he was really planning to do it, but he was preempted by the so-called Gang of 14. It sucks, but there's no denying that they are the reason Alito and Roberts are on the bench. And IMO McCain was the mover behind the Gang.
But, of course, nothing can redeem his attack on Free Speech.
However you view it, the nominations were a huge success by Republicans in the Senate, and being the leader of them, Frist deserves some credit.
That said, Delay was much better at getting things done, and standing up to everyone (including Bush at times).
