The Fox News Channel shakes up its anchor roster a little today, with former WABC/ Ch. 7 correspondent E.D. Hill moving from "Fox & Friends" to the network's "Fox Live" anchor team.
Former CBS News anchor Gretchen Carlson will take Hill's place as a co-host of the freewheeling morning show.
"Gretchen's warm personality and dynamic energy are a perfect fit for 'Fox & Friends,'" Bill Shine, senior vice president of programming, said in a statement.
Also starting today on FNC is "Live Desk With Martha MacCallum" at 1 p.m., replacing "Dayside," and a full hour of news with Jane Skinner at 2 p.m.
E.D. is great. She'll light up the screen whichever show she's on.
Yes it seems that was her name.
Another hottie.
I've never really thought of Kiran as an airhead. There have been times in the past where she acted a tad immature, but I think she's done a little growing up since she had her baby. She's a bit liberal-that's the only problem I have with her.
"I figured the early morning show was tough for ED with all her kids."
Waking up at 3:30 every morning and having to look your best by 6:00am must have been a pain in the arse.
My eyes would still be bloodshot with circles underneath them.
Thanks for the ping!
I thoroughly agree. The two guys act so silly sometimes that I can't even watch.
Now if they can only dump Bill-John-Boy-Walton-Hummer and Harris-I-can-barely-pronounce-my-own-name-Faulkner.
Yes, that was her. Her birth name is Edith Ann Tarbox.
Although she may have been going by "Edie" at that point. She has gone through different spelling variations on the shortened version of her first name throughout her career. At one point on VH1 I believe she was going by "Edye" Tarbox (an unfortunate spelling). "E.D." doesn't quite seem right, either.
She is probably thinking that "Edith" is a name for an older woman. Heck, one of my great-grandmothers was named Edith. But at some point as she ages, she may choose to switch to it, and I think she can pull it off. Sometimes on F&F Doocy would call her Edith.
I have a signed F&F calendar...I *think* that picture was in it!
One of my fondest memories of ED on F&F is a recent one: to cover the shuttle launch, they stuffed her in a spacesuit on live camera. You have to be at least 5'11" to wear one, which is why more women don't take space walks since they're not built custom and each costs $1.5 million! Not only was she shown how to scratch ones nose in a helmet, but she asked "the question" on behalf of her kids, who wanted to know how astronauts go to the bathroom. She looked like a turtle with it's head half-crammed into its shell!
I still can't figure out how they got her out of it so fast during the break...!
I haven't listened in a long time, but wasn't she O'Reilly's side kick on his radio show?
9-11 am? I would think this would be better for school aged kids, no? Yes, I agree that reply doesn't sound too happy at all.
Mornings just aren't the same without her, and I agree: it doesn't sound like she wanted the change.
Mr. Ailes needs to realize there ARE parents who, after getting the kids off to school, like to sit down with a cup of coffee and watch Fox & Friends for Steve, Brian AND E.D. I have to hand it to the guys - they're doing their best to "go on with the show." I wish there was a way to find out how F&F's ratings are doing now. No offense to Gretchen, but her personality isn't strong enough to counterbalance Brian and Steve.
I think I'll take the time to send a letter off to Mr. Ailes.
works with Kieran on Saturdays, her name escapes me, she is pregnant now..
Allison Camarotta?
E.D. has stated on Fox & Friends and in a few interviews that she is a Democrat. Having said that, anyone can pretty much discern from listening to her comments that she is not a liberal. The Zell Miller comparison seems about right to me.
Gretchen's personality, to me, is suited more towards the audiences of CBS, NBC, ABC, etc. Gretchen came to FNC from CBS, where she was a co-host on the Saturday morning program. She simply doesn't mesh well with Brian and Steve. Juliet Huddy wasn't an option for this position because she has the new syndicated morning show that will be premiering on local Fox stations this coming January. Her co-host will be Mike Jerrick. Kiran would seem to be the next in line for the position, but she's too culturally liberal in my opinion and might turn off the average weekday viewer of Fox & Friends. Still, she's very talented and kind of sweet. I would have to suggest Page Hopkins as another possibility. She's pretty fiery and not afraid to voice her opinions.
See post #40.
I see that you also think that Page would be a great choice for Fox & Friends! I remember watching her as co-host on the weekend show a while back, and she and Julian would go at it from time to time. Page is funny as well as opinionated, and when she frequently disagreed with Julian, I came to like her more and more. Given the choice between Page, Kiran or Alisyn, Page is the most conservative. Maybe when Gretchen takes her vacations Page will get a chance to fill in for her.
Since being at Walter Reed every Friday, she is the only woman I can look at in pink.
