The Future of Kosovo from a Serbian-American Perspective
Glas Javnosti ^ | Saturday, September 23, 2006 | By: Michael Pravica, Ph.D.

I first visited Kosovo in 1988 with a group of Serbian-American students who toured some of the many historic monasteries and churches of Serbia and Montenegro. Even then, it was obvious to me that there were ethnic tensions in the Serbian province as ancient Churches were desecrated with Albanian graffiti, a car with Belgrade license plates was overturned, and we had to always walk with a guard during our stay at the Patriarchate of Pec. For me, this visit was critical in solidifying my cultural awareness and pride as a Serbian-American.

In that spirit, I strongly encourage the government of Serbia not to allow the West to bully it into granting Kosovo independence. Though there have been many innuendos about Serbia's difficulty in joining the EC if Kosovo is not "let go," and talk of "lost incentives" for Serbia, we should be very wary of any "promises" coming from the West as they have always been reneged. Serbia has a long tradition of self-sufficiency and independence. Joining the EC will not be a panacea.

In Kosovo, Serbs and Albanians have coexisted there for over 1300 years and must relearn how to coexist in the future. Granting independence to this Serbian province would set a dangerous precedent that terrorists who slaughter, ethnically cleanse, and terrorize innocent civilians can successfully alter the borders of nations and would encourage terrorists the world over in conflict-ridden places such as Chechnya, Canada, Spain, Turkey, Iraq, China, etc. From a Serbian-American perspective, Kosovo is part of Serbia, a sovereign nation. Though the ethnic demographics have shifted so that Albanians are currently in the majority, this has been due chiefly to illegal immigration of Albanians (encouraged by Tito) into the province. Granting Kosovo independence would be a dangerous harbinger of what might happen to America due to massive illegal immigration across its' Southern border with Mexico as many of these immigrants wish to reclaim "Azatlan" for Mexico. Kosovo is now the "black hole" of Europe and is becoming a fifth-column and training ground for terrorists who will attack Western interests.

The West has no legal basis to steal Kosovo from Serbia. The UN (of which Yugoslavia was a founding member) has no business interfering in Serbia's internal/domestic affairs. NATO was established to counter the no longer existent Soviet threat and should be out of Kosovo. Countries such as Germany that participated in the Holocaust of Serbs during WWII and helped catalyze the destruction of the former Yugoslavia for their own national interests should never have been allowed to station their troops in Kosovo. Serbia must regain Kosovo so that she can restore law and order because the UN and NATO are not doing the job. Serbia must also reclaim the businesses that were illegally pilfered by "philanthropists" such as George Soros. The Serbian Orthodox Church was the largest landowner in Kosovo before Tito. Lands that were illegally confiscated from The Church must be returned to their rightful owner.

During the summer of 2005, I met with two members of Congress, Shelley Berkeley and Jon Porter (my Nevada representatives). They agreed that Kosovo should remain with Serbia. I believe the US government is beginning to realize that major errors were made regarding Kosovo - especially in the post-9/11 climate - and my feeling is that with enough activism and steadfast resistance from the Serbian government, there is a good chance that the independence effort will not succeed. The Serbian government should work to restore ties with the United States and partner with it in the war on terrorism. We Serbian-Americans stand ready to aid the Serbian government in liaising with our elected officials and offering advice if requested. We must all jointly overcome lack of Serbian unity, lack of communication between the diaspora and Serbia, and lack of vision for the future.

No nation gives away land for nothing. The West may illegally recognize Kosovo's independence but no self-respecting Serb should ever accept it. Defeat occurs only when one accepts fate instead of trying to change it.

The HOPLITE CLOWN SAYS:
"The reality distortion field the Serbs generate over the subject of Kosovo just isn't worth dealing with anymore."

"Whether Kostunica and Tadic understand this or not has become irrelevant in Washington and Brussels," Blah, blah, blah.

Why don't you give them my whole quote, Hopeless? I am not ashamed and I still stand behind it:

"Hate to say it, but I am actually rooting for the Serbs to kick our ass. They have every right to defend their territory -- it's no different a situation than it would be for a Californian if the internationals decided to "give California to Mexico". I know what I'd do and it wouldn't be to lay down & roll over!

Go ahead, Hopeless, refer me to the House on UnAmerican Activities for that comment.

Clark wrote the BS book to cover his donkey. You and them dropped bombs without any plan.....and not without Clintons "personal" approval. That was an interesting policy you think. You see, you have it all turned backwards. We are the patriots, and the Serbs are the patriots of America as well........you are the traitors and the evil doers..........Your group is small....General Butler in 1933 named you exactly. you will not succeed.

Dear Hoplite: I wonder why you waste your time?

More specifically, to me the only the thing you are doing is spending time sitting at your computer either trying to impress people with your prose or how you can move around the Internet to supple links etc.

In short, you don't impress me.

Having said that, I must say I am a tenured Ph.D. professor and have also published articles in major journals with a book forthcoming.

Let me know when your book is coming out.

Bokababe, I was in the military for a long time, and I would fight for my country and die no problem. But right now if we went to another conflict with Serbia.....it will be problem for me to support our war, conflict, or whatever the BS will be called. Because I know it won't be my country going to war or having a conflict with Serbia but it will be the scum bag, egg sucking, cowards that are the globalist pulling the stings. I know for a fact their world will, in due time, fall apart all around them and their time in the next, will be "hot" nonetheless, they have painted themselves in a corner that started generations ago.

It will be a problem to support any action against Serbia. This is no question. Noted.....

There's nothing wrong with his/her patriotism. The Conflict if it happens, will not be American patriotism in question. It will be the scum that pulls the stings that we are disassociating with. We need to take back American from these cowards......they hid behind their cash, names, secret organizations, and pat each other on the back deluding themselves that they are doing American and the world a service. They aren't doing anyone a service. As a matter of fact they are sowing the seeds of their own destruction and they don't even know it.

Somehow?

You think it's a "conspiracy" when it comes to Caspian oil, but what about Clinton dealing with Iran behind closed doors?

Somehow you are confused.

Do you know why these elite want an independent Kosovo? I submit a quote that is true to an extent, by Richard Holbrooke;

Circa 1998:

Interviewer:

"There's a military insurrection that is taking shape, backed by the members of the Albania Diaspora in Germany, Switzerland, and right here in New York City, where a lot of Albanians and Albanian-Americans are sending a lot of money and support to Kosovo. (Gosh - NYC? -SG)"

COMMENT: The actual truth as it was told in 1998:

Holbrooke: An independent Kosovo would "unravel Southeastern Europe."

JIM LEHRER: And they want an independent Kosovo ruled by Albanians, right?

RICHARD HOLBROOKE: Yes. And more. I met with several Albanian leaders in Kosovo who said their goal is an independent Kosovo, their goal is to recreate the Greater Albania that existed briefly during the 30's and 40's, which includes Albania, Kosovo, and part of Macedonia. That, I can tell you, Jim, would unravel Southeastern Europe and dramatically increase the chances of a general war. And that's why the situation is both not the same as Bosnia and why it's so dangerous
I really need to stress this point so people do not misunderstand it. The Kosovo Albanians have been very badly treated for over a decade by the Serb minority in Kosovo. Their rights have been denied and the Yugoslav federal constitution was changed to reduce their powers. This was entirely wrong, and it led to the inevitable reaction which we're now seeing. At the same time, the violent solution which is being advocated by the so-called Kosovo Liberation Army, which is really not an army but a lot of different groups that are gradually forming an infrastructure of resistance, this approach is highly dangerous to stability in the region.

He told the truth back then, but then changed his tue later in 2005....

Now--fast-forward Nov 8 2005:

Holbrooke, the architect of the 1995 Bosnian peace deal, who said that independence was the only way forward for Kosovo and its mainly Muslim Albanians.

"I cannot see any final status for Kosovo other than independence," said Holbrooke, who forged the Dayton Peace Accords that ended Bosnia's 1992-95 war.
"But at the same time ... this cannot be achieved without ironclad guarantees for the safety, security, and protection of the rights of the Serbs who live in Kosovo and the protection of their magnificent monuments," he said.

Now.....

Subject: Kosovo Independence and a new Initiative from the U.S.
Date: Sun, 8 Jan 2006 23:34:13 -0800 (PST)

23/12/2005 Washington
Albanian Push for Kosovo

With negotiations on the final status of Kosovo set to begin in early January, Kosovo residents of Albanian origin and their friends in the United States have launched a campaign in Washington in favor of the territory's independence. An organization named Alliance for a New Kosovo was founded last month and is being run by two lobbyists from the American firm Jefferson Waterman. They are Samuel Hoskinson, former vice chairman of the National Intelligence Council and Kempton Jenkins, an ex deputy assistant secretary for East-West trade at the State Department. The organization has lined up a high-profile consultative council whose members include Frank
Carlucci, chairman of the Carlyle Group; lieutenant-general Robert Gard, former president of the National Defense University; William Edwin Ryerson, ex American ambassador to Albania; Walter Stadtler, who long handled European affairs for the U.S. delegation at the United Nations; Fred Fielding, who served as Ronald Reagan's lawyer; and William Walker, former chief of the OSCE's Kosovo Verification Mission. [From the French intel publication, Intelligence Online]

Notice the names involved in the independence bid...do your search: "Carlucci, chairman of the Carlyle Group"

Now, here is the trick. All of them KNOW that making Kosovo independent would destablize the Balkans. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANT!!!!!!! This will fuel the campaign to Western Macedonia, extricate remaining Serbs in Kosovo while the Albanian leaders damn the violence against minorities they give the okay behind closed doors; target South Serbia, where the Albanians have been living in harmony with the Serbs. Did you know that in 1999-2001, the exact month and year I don't remember right now, but Shifket Muslieu, UCPMB Commander.....(enemy of Mohammand Xhemili) and probably responsible for his death in 2005...anyway, ole Shifket went to south Presevo to stir up the Albanians in South Presevo and long story short was threatened by the hard liners in South Presevo that if he continued to recruit and stir up trouble there they would kill his......A#&. That they were okay in South Presevo living with the Serbs. Imagine that........

If we start in on Serbia, it will not be America, it will be the elitist hijacking our armed forces to do their dirty work....these are the facts. In 1933-1935 these scum attempted to bribe General Smedely Butler, USMC to lead a force of 500,000 disgruntled former American Vets...into DC to take over the country. This is a true story and documented by Sworn testimony before Congress..

quote:

"The supportive military/industrial complex entities and banks that are reaping untold zillions in cash profits are testimony to the accuracy of that famous observation coined by two-time Congressional Medal of Honor winner, the late Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Smedley D. Butler: "War is a racket!" And those who profit from war by risking the funds, lives and limbs of others can indeed be classified as "racketeers!"

Although numerous articles and commentaries have been written about Butler, a true American hero, his greatest contribution to our nation has never been highlighted or revealed".

"1934 - Coup d'etat attempt (?) by JP Morgan, du Ponts, GM people, American Legion reps., turned to Smedley Butler, former Marine Commandant who allegedly turned over information to Roosevelt. [He] was forced to resign as Commandant after he called Mussolini a Dictator." And later: "McCormack-Dickstein hearings into coup attempt confirmed it, but the report was not immediately released."

highly recommended reading....
