Happy Birthday, Free Republic!
For what it's worth (usually, not much), the
Baltimore Sun sees Free Republic's anniversary through MD4Bush-colored glasses:
Connect the dots
FreeRepublic.com celebrates its 10th anniversary tomorrow with a dinner on Capitol Hill, where FReepers will reminisce about taking down Dan Rather, launching the Dixie Chicks boycott and hammering Bill Clinton, spokesman Kristinn Taylor said. What about spreading mayoral gossip? Taylor didn't mention that as a high point. But among those planning to attend the festivities: Joe Steffen. Says the Prince: "I hope to maybe run into MD4Bush there."
I hope everyone had a good time at the dinner.

Thank you Free Republic: I've learned a lot here.

Not me... I don't even know what Jim uses for a beeber...
I think he has always used a basic stuner. Careful with your beeber!
My tagline is really true.
Just think, I fix'em. Severs that is.
Did you know that stuner and beeber are spelled wrong according to spell check?
Happy 10 again.

After an hour delay on one of the bridges, (night construction) I am home from the Party!
I can report we had a wonderful time and the attendance of our leader Jim Robinson was greatly appreciated by the DC Freepers and their most welcome friends visiting from other areas of the country.
What a lively, and hungry, group. After hugs and handshakes we have all left for our next destination secure in the knowledge that the next 10 years of Free Republic will be better than ever!
Good night All and I do mean it when I say, "wish you had been here".

Thanks for the ping! Isn't it amazing that the SUN can remember Joe Steffen and his connection to Free Republic, but just this week when Lt Gov Steele held a press meeting to introduce some high-profile city democrats who are endorsing him, the SUN ran an article with the words "identity theft" in the headline - applied to Steele! Nary a mention of the Convicted Identity Thief who worked on Schumer's Democrat Senatorial Committee, who actually invaded the privacy of Mr and Mrs Steele's credit reports, using fraudently obtained information.

Last night on some news report (could have been the WSJ Opinion show on the Fox News Channel) FreeRepublic was listed as the #2 conservative website, measured by the number of "hits". NewsMax was #1, but I didn't think that was a fair comparison because NewsMax doesn't allow you to talk back!
The point of the story was that the conservative websites had more than double the number of users than the liberal websites. The numbers were staggering, although I can't quote them. I just remember FR as #2 on the right and the DNC as #5 on the left. The RNC didn't make the list.
Kudos to JimRob and JohnRob for making this a great place.

Some of us are leftovers from the days of the 'Whitewater' page. Indeed! Me too, although I was probably just a lurker. I lurked for a long time before I joined.

Remind me how to get that number again? Why can't I ever remember this?Hey Nita. I have always been amused by your screen name(s).
All you have to do is click on a FReeper name in the forum
On the upper right of that page it says:
view home page, enter name:
So enter your own name
Then, on that page click 'In Forum' at the top
Which will take you to this, your own page:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/user-posts?id=42453
Someone will give you an easier way I'm sure, that's just how I do it

Happy Birthday Free Republic.
I can remember in 1998 having to email Jim because I was having trouble with the refreshing a page. Wow a lots happened in 10 years yet it went by so fast.
