Another example of why letting the Democrats ever again controll any portion of the Federal Goverment is insanely risky. The notion that once in they would easily be routed out of power again is nonsense.

Secret plan alleged on campaign financing Sacramento Bee ^ | 9/19/6 | Jim Sanders

A California Nurses Association publication indicates the group is pushing the Proposition 89 campaign-finance measure as a Trojan horse to get what it covets most: universal health care, opponents said Monday.
Allan Zaremberg, president of the California Chamber of Commerce, said the strategy basically was spelled out in a document that appeared on the nurses association Web site.
"They have a two-step process here," he said. "One is to eliminate the ability of business to communicate with the voters. The second step is to have government-run health care on the next ballot ... and deny voters the ability to hear the other side."
Proposition 89 would allow public financing of campaigns for state offices, an overhaul touted as a way to discourage undue influence by well-heeled special interests.
The measure, crafted by the CNA, is on the Nov. 7 ballot.
Chuck Idelson, spokesman for both the CNA and the Yes on Proposition 89 campaign, said the nurses group has supported universal health care for many years but that the campaign-finance initiative is not specifically linked to that goal.
Universal health care is a bitterly controversial concept to replace California's system of private health insurance with a state-run system to provide medical care to every resident.

Thanks....I hope Frist is right, this time....he has been known to count wrong.
Frist is going to be leaving the Senate soon...and if he doesn't want to be known as the worst Majority leader there every was...he better get with it!
Put your fears aside. Do what's right -- vote only for principled conservatives -- and leave the results to God.
If we vote for gun grabbing, baby killing, big government, high spending liberals (and compassionate conservatives) merely to hold the majority, are we any better than the libs who vote for gun grabbing, baby killing, big government, high spending liberals who do the same thing?
Can you blame the party elite and the politicians for ignoring our values if we are ready to ditch them to 'win'? If our values stop being valuable once the primary is over, were they worth anything to begin with? If we don't stand by our values, why should the people that we try to convince to come over to our side believe that we are sincere?
Principles, and sincere committment to them, will be what wins in the long run and will effect postive change. Selling out to the Party to 'win' or out of fear will only bring us more of the same old same old that we fight every election cycle.
Philosophy, not the 'Party', counts. The party only matters if they will advance that philosophy, not if they simply use it, and us, to hold power.
Be would still have a majority of Chafee lost
Thanks. I knew that I could count on you.
Ray .. I am very principled .. but I'm also not stupid
One battle at a time
I'm sure it is .. but what I too see are GOP Senators taking their party back from numbnuts like McLoser
It's time to put that jack*** back in his place .. he's doesn't own the party
OMG!
You do agree with me afterall.
I want them all gone now, but I know that won't resonate with everyone everywhere all at once, so start with my favorite and then as time goes by, we can get the rest of them. As more go, and our odds increase in our favor (as my theory catches on) then we can remove more of them each cycle until they are all gone.
In the meantime, won't it be fun watching them get scared out of their wits wondering when it's their turn?
Yes Ray ... I do want the Rino's gone .. but I know it's not a wise idea to do it all at once
We are in a war of our survival at the moment and there is not much wiggle room and we can't hand the Dems the Majority of either House
Our Country could not servive that
I don't think that I ever implied or said that you were, but since you can only vote for (or against) one senator at a time, a principled vote is intelligent and easy. As you point out, losing Chafee will not lose the Senate. Remember, they need to win everyone of their seats and we must lose 6 of ours for the power to shift.
76% of FReepers don't believe that we will lose either house according to the current poll. Why does it seem that within these threads it seems that 76% think that we'll lose both?
Thanks, Johnnie. I missed that. Good to know.
Because people like you (I mean that in the nicest way :0) ) scare them
You talk about all or nothing .. that is no why to get rid of the Rino's
One battle at a time
I am mostly conservative, but I am a total Republican.
Many thanks for the ping!
That is the ONLY correct translation of that Commandment. It is one of my biggest pet peeves when someone twists it as a defense for opposing the death penalty. There is nothing in the Bible that would lead someone to believe that the death penalty is unChristian. Both books of the Bible speak to the contrary. And I don't understand someone who would argue against the execution of someone like Jeffry Dahlmer or Son of Sam or Ted Bundy, or even some 17 year old who walked into a McDonalds or Day Care and shot up the place and killed kids. That person deserves to die. After that, it's God's call. The penalty for murder is DEATH, so saeth the Lord. If someone can show me somewhere in the Bible where God instructed someone to say, or where Jesus said, God can be the only taker of life, I'll change my tune. But Jesus said "Judge not lest ye by judged", He didn't say "the penalty for crimes shall by carried out by my Father". Jesus never even hinted that there would not be penalty at the hands of man for crimes committed against others. There should be consequence in this life for wrong actions. That's not judgement. That's consequence. Judgement is God's and God's alone. If someone was given a consequence in life that did not fit their crime, God will reverse that in the here after. But when someone is proved to have taken a human life, wantonly, willingly, and with malace, I have no compunction against visitng that same deed to them and use the State to return the favor. If someone takes a defenseless life for no reason, they forfeit their as far as I'm concerned.
:)
Much as I would love to see the GOP gain seats, it would be hard to weap over seeing a couple RINOs go down in flames, so long as the GOP still has SOMETHING over 51 seats. I mean, RINOs by definition barely vote with the GOP 50% of the time, so little would be lost really, and some of the states that put up RINOs, after six years of a flaming lib representing them, that might cure enough voters that they're replace that flamer with real honest to goodness NON-RINO Conservative Republican. It could happen. :) The only good RINO is a defeated RINO, but we should keep one in office for kicks to remember what they're like. Either Snowe or Collins maybe. They're so loopy who would want more of them? One is one too many. :)
That sounds like a great win for us. :) And I'd love to see McCain get put in his place by a Republican fillibuster. :) AZ needs to get their heads out of their arses and put McCain out to pasture. It's well past time and if he really thinks we need a 77ish President with a questionable mental state taking his first oath of office, in a time of prolonged war against the most difficult to fight enemy the country has ever faced, he really IS disconnected from reality.
Yup, that makes sense to me. Philosophy is what matters. The party is what puts forth the philosophy, not the other way around. The party is there serving at the pleasure of the philosophy, not the reverse. That's where the liberals are all screwed up, especially the moderate or mostly conservative Democrats. They're so married to the Democrat party, they throw their beliefs out the window and vote Democrat even if it means voting for liberals who would spit in their face because they're not a liberal. That is just crazy! I'm a Christian first, American second, conservative third, and I vote Republican because the GOP most reflects the constructionist originalist values of the founders and their Christian beliefs and ideals which created the Constitution. When the GOP stops representing those founding ideals of the founders and the Constitution they wrote, I'm out. I think it's that way for most Conservatives. Thankfully, the GOP IS the conservative party, and that won't be changing.
