Rush Limbaugh Live Thread Tuesday September 19th 2006

Another example of why letting the Democrats ever again controll any portion of the Federal Goverment is insanely risky. The notion that once in they would easily be routed out of power again is nonsense.

Secret plan alleged on campaign financing Sacramento Bee ^ | 9/19/6 | Jim Sanders

Posted on 09/19/2006 9:54:35 AM CDT by SmithL

A California Nurses Association publication indicates the group is pushing the Proposition 89 campaign-finance measure as a Trojan horse to get what it covets most: universal health care, opponents said Monday.

Allan Zaremberg, president of the California Chamber of Commerce, said the strategy basically was spelled out in a document that appeared on the nurses association Web site.

"They have a two-step process here," he said. "One is to eliminate the ability of business to communicate with the voters. The second step is to have government-run health care on the next ballot ... and deny voters the ability to hear the other side."

Proposition 89 would allow public financing of campaigns for state offices, an overhaul touted as a way to discourage undue influence by well-heeled special interests.

The measure, crafted by the CNA, is on the Nov. 7 ballot.

Chuck Idelson, spokesman for both the CNA and the Yes on Proposition 89 campaign, said the nurses group has supported universal health care for many years but that the campaign-finance initiative is not specifically linked to that goal.

Universal health care is a bitterly controversial concept to replace California's system of private health insurance with a state-run system to provide medical care to every resident.

"If you understood it was a joke, why did you find it necessary to say Bush was a Dallas fan?"

I didn't say he was a Dallas fan. I responded to someone else's comment that he was probably a Dallas fan. All I said was that it would stand to reason he was since he'd like Dallas as he was a Texan through and through. I don't know what the problem is either way. Frankly, I could give two shits what football team the President likes or doesn't like, and I wouldn't get my skivvies in a bunch over it.

Just because I want to be clear, I am pro-life at both ends of the debate. I oppose Capital punishment as well. Flame away.

I won't flame ya def. But, a child in the womb is innocent and hardly deserve death no matter the circumstance of his conception. Someone evil, an evil that hacks people to death, slashes throats, terrorizes children (or societies..), can most definitely deserve death.

I've had some quote the "Thou Shalt Not Kill" commandment as a reason to reject the death penalty for proven criminal, even criminals of the worst kind.

I believe the truer interpretation is "Thou Shall Not Commit Murder". There is a difference between killing someone righteously and committing murder. For instance, our Soldiers Kill the enemy, they do not murder them.

What say you?

defconw,

Mo1 wants us to lose the Senate. Don't let her kid you.

hehehehe

Actually, she and I have been at each other's throats over when to remove RINOs and her position has always been to do so in the primary. As a cantankerous old fogie, I say take them out any time you get the chance. For the Senate to change hands, the Dems would have to hold every one of their seats and win 6 of ours. IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN!

I say that we can take out a few in November and still hold the Senate and our position will be enhanced, not weakened. We won't have the same numbers, but the naysayers that remain will represent a smaller percentage working against us. They will be more marginalized and ineffective.

The 'primary is the time' mantra is just the talking points of a party and / or candidate that desparately wants to maintain control or hold onto his seat and if you buy into that theory you enhance their chances of remaining when they should be sent packing.

It's a target rich environment and you can fire at will. It's open season.

Remind me to tell you about my conversation with the 7 (some ponytailed), Vets for Peace across from the UN.

I will be interested. It's good to see that the SDS is still getting arrested. Reminds me of my college days...The media is Sooooooo....biased. This whole Thailand coup thing is being painted that Thaksin is already "out" by the media...it may or may not be at this point, but the media is trying to make it so by putting it on the air and in print. What a crock!

I don't think we can run the risk of even one RINO being defeated in the Senate. Every vote for Mitch McConnell or whoever is running for Majority Leader is key. This could be a 50/50 tie...we at least want VP Cheney to decide it. If it's 51-49 the other way, he doesn't. Bad News...

This article really goes toward our subject...but I am STILL looking for my source.

However, I think it is important to know that I found the above source on NRO in a blog by Andy McCarthy...who said that not only do the Senators need to defeat McCain, Graham, and Warners bill this WEEK...

But, they need to find a way to REPEAL the McCain Torture Bill that passed last year..and that Bush signed into law.

He said something in last year's bill that no one has mentioned is that according to that bill...the military troops are supposed to give terrorists MIRANDA RIGHTS when they are captured!! yeppers, MIRANDA RIGHTS for terrorists.

He said it is just as important for our troops and the American citizen's safety to get that first McCain Terrorism Bill repealed...as it is to DEFEAT this one.

Frist was just on Sean Hannity, he say this propaganda by the McCainiancs is BS. They do not have 60 votes which he points out means their bill cannot pass. Did not out right say it but the context was the Reppubos would filibuster the Mccainiacs.
