Yup, that makes sense to me. Philosophy is what matters. The party is what puts forth the philosophy, not the other way around. The party is there serving at the pleasure of the philosophy, not the reverse. That's where the liberals are all screwed up, especially the moderate or mostly conservative Democrats. They're so married to the Democrat party, they throw their beliefs out the window and vote Democrat even if it means voting for liberals who would spit in their face because they're not a liberal. That is just crazy! I'm a Christian first, American second, conservative third, and I vote Republican because the GOP most reflects the constructionist originalist values of the founders and their Christian beliefs and ideals which created the Constitution. When the GOP stops representing those founding ideals of the founders and the Constitution they wrote, I'm out. I think it's that way for most Conservatives. Thankfully, the GOP IS the conservative party, and that won't be changing.
Well, the GOP is where most conservative voters call home, but the GOP elite are from from conservative and have great disdain for us and our values. They pay lip service to us to win our votes but I think that they'd rather we just go away.
The irony is that the more they drift left, the more conservatives will leave the party and the more the GOP will lose to the left. If they would move rightward and do it honestly and then govern as conservatives, they'd bring voters back into the system and the GOP and the more victories they'd have for generations to come.
It almost makes me think that the GOP wants to lose out to the left. It's only because the left is so looney that many voters are voting for the lesser GOP evil.
