They do not need, and cannot benefit from, a speech by our President. They need---and can benefit from---a demolition team which I would forever after refer to as New York's Other Finest.
Boy would I like to buy a piece of that wall for a paperweight.

I'd like Bush to say something nice about the Pope. That'd go over well with that crowd right about now.

Is Bush going to announce the pullout of the US from the UN, and the sale of the building to the highest bidder?

Haven't heard any rumors about that, so I thought I would start one.

Never will happen but I would enjoy the following speech:

"Thanks for this opportunity. I'll keep this short.
You have a week to clean out your desks and find a new building somewhere else. We won't be providing any relocation funding, or any funding at all, for that matter.
Oh, and Iran - We begin bombing in five minutes."

I wish he'd chew them all out and then treat them to a slide presentation on Dafur.

I find it outrageous, that this Iranian Madman, who wants to take America down, vows to wipe Israel off the face of the map, accuses our President of restarting the Crusades, openly defies the West and continues to seek Nuclear weapons to do just that, harbors and supports Terrorists, will be allowed to give a speech in America, in NYC..scene of 9/11..outrageous insult after major injury ... ?!?

This is no different than if Adolf Hitler came to America to give a speech while planning to begin WWII and the Holocaust.

And our tax dollars have to protect him while in this Country..???

As if we MUST give him a square deal, treat him with PC gloves, even though he is supporting Terrorists, an open sworn enemy of America, Jews, Christians and a threat to the entire free world.

Why? How is this good? It's a sign of our weakness not diplomacy, and he certainly isn't here for diplomacy ..and I believe that's part of his reason to be here, to access firsthand just how PC weak/divided his foe really is.. an 'in your face' declaration. I'm livid.

I always worry when so many leaders of the world gather together in one place.

Especially in todays climate of terror.

"Surprise, Security and the American Experience"

A discussion of the book by that title authored by John Lewis Gaddis.

I just saw Eleanor Clift on FNC, on the net's pre-speech coverage. She should read that book.

Question of the day......why is the President speaking this late morning when "nobody" is home......and MadMood is speaking tonight when "everybody" is home?

Dumb logistics move, IMO.

Bin Laden reportedly leaves Afghanistan, whereabouts unknown

Laden
Taliban authorities did not confirm or deny reports that bin Laden had left Afghanistan

February 13, 1999
Web posted at: 10:55 a.m. EST (1547 GMT)

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AP) -- Osama bin Laden, the Saudi millionaire accused by the United States of plotting bomb attacks on two U.S. embassies in Africa, has left Afghanistan, Afghan sources said Saturday.

Bin Laden's whereabouts were not known, said the sources who declined to be identified.

The report of his departure comes just days after the Taliban Islamic militia, which rules most of Afghanistan, took away his satellite telephone and banned bin Laden from speaking to the media.

Taliban authorities in the militia's southern stronghold of Kandahar refused to either confirm or deny reports that bin Laden had left the country. The Taliban have called bin Laden their honored guest, a friend who helped the Afghan resistance fight invading Soviet soldiers in the 1980s.

The Taliban's ambassador in Islamabad, Saeed-ur-Rehman Haqqani, said he had not been told of bin Laden's departure, "but if it has happened, it will be a good thing."

Saddam Hussein offered asylum

Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has offered asylum to bin Laden, who openly supports Iraq against the Western powers.

Despite repeated demands from Washington, the Taliban refused to hand over bin Laden after the August 7 bombings of the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, demanding proof of his involvement in terrorist activities.

However, in recent weeks, both the United States and Britain have renewed their pressure on the Taliban to expel bin Laden.

Pakistan, a strong ally of the Taliban and one of only three countries to recognize the movement's control over Afghanistan, also has been asked by the United States to use its influence to have bin Laden expelled from Afghanistan.

"We have been asked, but we can't force the Taliban to do anything they don't want to do," Foreign Minister Sartaj Aziz said last week.

The Taliban did promise that bin Laden would not use Afghanistan as a staging arena for terrorist activities.

Bin Laden came to Afghanistan from Sudan more than five years ago while the Taliban's opposition ruled the country.

The President must tell Iran to cease and desist from nuclear enrichment or prepare for a pre-emptive strike. Anything less is fool hearty. And when Iran refuses, we must strike first and we must deliver a decisive blow. Our lives depend on it. Anyone still in denial is a fool.

I will make two predictions from this event, considering that Iranian President Ahmanutjob will shortly be on deck.

1- Ahmanutjob will again proclaim that there was an aura of light around him as he spoke of a world without America, and world leaders were mesmerized.

2- Alcohol will never be served again at UN luncheons, as the rest of the Islamic states fall in behind Ahmanutjob in protesting its availability.
