CNN just now doing a piece on Anbar Province in Iraq saying how bad it is! How al Qaeda actually runs the place.

Did they actually say al Qaeda is running Anbar?  If there's a better case for staying in Iraq I've never heard it.  And your analysis of how it may play out is excellent.  However, remember the admonition in red on the posting page.

I don't understand...other than your having innate courtesy toward your hosts...how you could stand a full hour of BOTH Russert and Imus.

My own theory as to why Imus wears that cowboy hat indoors is his affectation of manliness. I once saw him on LKL w/his wife and observed an extremely wimpish husband.

Russert's format for his show has become tiresome, His all too obvious liberalism, and his treatment of conservatives while fawning over fellow liberals have become a big turnoff for me. I've decided life is too short for me to include him on my short list for watching. My long list of unwatchables gets longer by the day.

Today is Wednesday, the 23rd of August 2006, and I predict on this day the nominee of the Republican Party for President of the United States in 2008 will be Mitt Romney.

I come to this conclusion by virtue of the candidate' s telegenic personality and by the utter absence of charisma among the rest of the pack. It's all about television and Romney has it. No one on these boards can claim purer conservative credentials then I have been espousing for years on these threads. I am not unaware of Romney's deficiencies. I know that he is a Mormon, I know that he is the governor of the most liberal state in the nation, I know that he is not pure on the murder of babies. Nevertheless, he will march to the right and he will get the nomination.

That is what I posted on that date, here:

The Geneva Convention is about as relevant to war as the Kyoto Treaty is to the realities of our world.

Sorry. I strongly disagree with this statement as written. The Geneva Convention just doesn't deal with terrorism which is what Bush is dealing with.

Can you point to any conflict where the Geneva Conventions were obeyed?

Clearly Imus' wife wears the pants in the family. He's just an old doddering fool with only his anger to keep him warm.

Sadly, no. I put those words in his mouth. These are the things the Republicans SHOULD be saying, but don't.

They really all need to become FReepers, or at least lurk here. What I've said is something that's been repeated here again and again and again.

The don't call the Republicans the "Stupid Party" for nothing!

I would like to hear how old the photo is. Having it surface at the same time as the showing of "The Path to 9-11" is too close to be coincidental.

Mort is what he was years ago, only more so. I enjoy reading and listening to him. But he makes me appreciate Fred and Charles all the more.

Of the three, Krauthamer is at least an order of magnitude beyond the other two.  What bugs me the most about both Mort and Fred is that they get tongue tied and forget names and facts almost everytime they open their mouths.  I want to scream and throw something at them.

Col. Bill Cowan was on Fox talking about this. He said he had it on solid info from a source in the Pentagon who he obviously has faith in that the drone was not armed and ordnance could not be brought to bear on that bunch quickly enough.

I am just in for a quick rest and a cold drink and couldn['t resist checking the thread.

I have predicted for some time that Romney will be the nominee. I have no favorites in the race; I do detest McCain and consider him in the "NO WAY" category.

Romney is flying under the radar right now, but he is organized quite well in Iowa and he is articulate and smart. He is a much more formidable candidate than people realize; how else did he manage to get elected in Massachusetts?

We will see. All of the candidates (except McCain) bring pluses and minuses into the arena. I simply think that right now Romney has more pluses and less minuses for one who wants to be a successful candidate.

" I want to scream and throw something at them."

The best is when they say ---- and so forth ----!!! I know what you mean tho - I keep saying -- come on you can do it. Just relax and it will come out. But then when it does it's junk.

Brit and Charles are the best on all TV programs.

It is 7:40 here and will have to wait until 12noon to see FoxSunday - but just saw NeoCon Bill Kristol say he is against what McCain is up to. That was a shock!!!

Don Imus is what happens when a show is still making money and still has somewhat of an audience but the host is way over the hill.

Agree he's got a real good "shot". From what I've heard in DC circles, "the money folks" are taking a really good look at him.

I heard that as well OldFriend. That the whole deal was just another cheap shot at getting GW, and the fact that only CNN is running this now makes me wonder. I don't trust anything is see there.

But the big thing I heard, don't remember where now, is that there "were" rules of engagement in Afghanistan that did prevent us from taking them out.
