Thanks Peach. I'm glad Boehner isn't backing down. There is nothing wrong with making truthful comments, versus the Democrats deamonizing President Bush & Co by spreading lies and innuendos.

Brit nailed McCain! Said while he greatly admired him, there are times when he can't stand him. Lays out the FACT that last year McCain got passed into law the standards for interrogation....which the WH wants to include as clarification of Section 3, but NOW, McCain says that's not good enought..."and they are his own words".

"Clinton, ever the imitator, got himself a pair[of cowboy boots]...TRYING to be a Bush Texan

Of course, the difference between Clinton and a real cowboy? On a real cowboy, the BS is on the outside of the boots.

Kristol is with Bush and not with McCain on this issue....shocking!

Apparently his loyalty to McLame does not go so far as to be willing to look completely stupid, as McLame does on this issue.

Brit thinks another week of McCain standing firm and pushing his point of view regarding detainee rights and McCain can forget about his presidential aspirations.

Another freeper on another thread thinks McCain will use this to leave the party and run as an Independent and split the party like Ross Perot.

FNS

Brit's assessment of McCain's current challenge to the Administration (on WoT prisoners): If McCain continues to balk, and 'wins' the issue, he will lose any chance of being the GOP nominee in 08.

McCain is so tied to the DBM that he can't break away.

Here, let me add onto your great reply:,P> What Allen should be saying is decisions are made at the time with the intelligence at hand, not three or four years later. Being a Senator means making decisions, not putting them off a few years to see how things are working out. After all, Tim, back then it was only a short time since we were brutally and monstrously attacked on 9/11 due to 8 years of neglet by the Clinton administration. The single biggest attack in our history was due to a failure to support the intelligence we were then getting. The intelligence agencies suffered serious cuts in the 1990s, cuts that the Bush administration has had to play catch up to fix. The failure to allow agencies to share intelligence by putting up the "Gorelick" wall led to 3,000 Americans killed. We certainly did not want to sit on our hands over intelligence in 2003. That could've led to more killing of innocent Americans.

Brit is so good. Agreeing with everything we all say here: If McCain continues this track, he will be denied the nomination, and he is spot on, as usual. Of course, Mara disagrees with Brit....Kristol says what McCain is doing regarding Article 3 is a big mistake. Again, shocking. Apparently on another channel, McCain states there is a compromise effort underway and thinks they will reach compromise. McCain blew it, and he must have gotten tons and tons of email (I certainly said my fair share). People are envisioning what McCain has done is side with the terrorists, rather than with america, and it will come back to haunt him.

Nina calls Powell a "team player", Brit jumps all over Powell and his (Powell's) rebellion at state, and brings up the Plame Game leak, how Powell knew, Powell let administration individuals twist in the wind...his last comment on this subject: "Powell a team player: maybe". I love Brit too!

Great reply. Too bad Allen could not have read this before the program. I'd sure like to hear our side make this case as you've written it.

Wow, Webb is really a nut. He was banned from speaking at the USNA. He was a cheerleader for 'tail-hook'. For even one female to vote for this guy would be a crime.

IMO McCain is still smarting over his defeat in SC in 2000 and is vindictive enough to do what's he doing now to get back at Bush. Where is that picture of McCain hugging Bush around his stomach for all he's worth and w/a scowl? I think it perfectly portrays his love/hate of Bush for having beat him for the presidency.
