COMMENTS by Pope Benedict XVI implicitly linking Islam to violence have caused Muslims "genuine pain", a British Muslim leader said in Sydney today.
The head of the Roman Catholic church provoked fury across the Islamic world when he quoted a 14th century Byzantine emperor's criticism of the Prophet Mohammed for bringing

That's a stupid thing to say... Billions of folks pay attention to the Pope. Only you and a handful of others put any stock in what Bush says. Most here say he's just being PC.

Exactly. I have yet to hear one Muslim cleric condemn all the murderous acts of jihad perpetrated in the name of Islam - or denounce forced conversions to Islam at gunpoint.

O.K. I get it.
I would rather he had not said anything at all.The muzzies are always looking for any little sings of weakness that they can exploit, he just gave them one, IMHO.

Exactly, and one more reason we need to disregard most any news story reported in the msm/DBM. They report selectively what suits their agenda, not that wackmennen job didn't say that.

Thank you. I couldn't get it to work.
I think the picture's a hoot. This whole thing is so staged. Do the muzzies have these signs (see othe protests) waiting to go to print when some Al-Reuters reporter calls during a speech?

Yeah, but the Pope is not looking out for just himself. He is concerned about the Christians (primarily the Catholics, but all who are subjected to unjust violence) in majority Muslim areas or Muslim nations. Already there have been two churches (non-Catholic, BTW, which shows how irrational the Muslimms are - quite making the Pope's point) in the Gaza Strip that have been attacked.
So, he apologized for their misunderstanding, but not for what he said. He did not intend to offend Muslims and had the MSM not taken his words out of context and emphasized them, then there probably would not have any reaction at all. How I despise the MSM.

Of course the MSM delights when they get the opportunity to bash the Catholic Church instead of pursuing rational discourse on the facts of the matter. Let me see now, the Pope said that muslims are irrational and violent. The reactions of the muslims were irrational and violent. And the MSM is ignoring the actual substance and context of the Pope's comment.
It appears that one cannot have an intellectual conversation with the muslim community. Intelligent discourse could lead to needed reform of Islam.
The religion of Islam has had no equivalent to the 21 Ecumenical Councils held by the Catholic Church. Islam is thus stuck in the 7th Century and full of contradictions and inconsistencies in its holy literature.

Glad to. It took me a while to figure out the code. Used to get so frustrated it was funny.
You know, I think they do have the signs waiting for them. Looks like they went to the same sign maker. LOL. A while back they were protesting (when aren't they?) & every single sign in the crowd had been written by the same person in a goofy kind of block lettering. Strange bunch.

Sorry to see the Pope apologize for being correct. Another PC moment that will get us killed. Evil must be exposed for what it truly is and the threat it is to civilization. Why can't political leaders see it? He should proclaim a crusade, as did the popes of yore.
To: ELS
Oops. It was in the West Bank, not the Gaza Strip. Mea culpa.

I have resisted going here, but absent a bunch of "moderate muslims turning their radical brothers in to police and marching in the street against their atrocities) I tend to go with the comment. If it's true lets kick them all out and soon.
How the hell did our immigration laws get changed to allow them in anyway ?
If so why hasn't Bush gone about stopping this madness
I am beginning to think Bomb the hell out of Iran's nukes and decimate their regular armed forces
Get the hell out of Iraq and tell them whoever takes over if they try getting nukes down the line there won't be any warning just action
Tell Israel they are on their own but any citizens that want in here are free to come
Tell all the oil countries they want to play games with their oil we blow the hell out of their oil fields and let Allah take care of their countries
But all this assumes the left wing democrats don't get power

Mussies know he backed down. Not from what I have seen. They want a personal apology from him. So far, the Vatican's press spokesman and Secretary of State have made official statements, but not Benedict XVI. Based on previous misunderstandings of what he has said, I doubt that he will issue a statement himself.
He didn't take back what he said or quoted. He said (through his officials) that he was sorry that his words were found offensive by Muslims. That's a significant difference.
