WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Republican Rep. Bob Ney of Ohio pleaded guilty Friday to federal charges in the congressional investigation into corruption and bribery involving disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff, according to the Justice Department.
Ney pleaded guilty to conspiracy and making false statements in a deal in which he will cooperate with the Justic Department's influence peddling investigation.
The Justice Department and Ney's lawyers agreed on a sentencing recommendation of 27 months in prison, provided Ney continues to cooperate, but the final sentence will be determined by a federal judge.

Well, he is getting 2 and a third in jail IF he coughs up names and a judge signs off on it. They must have had good dirt on him to make him take 27 months, AND have to blab.

I honestly haven't been following anything Abrahmoff. But I do know there were some Dems involved. Why only Reps being prosecuted?

My guess is not people in Washington but in Ohio. You have that coin scandal and such. The Ohio party is a mess right now or so I have heard. We shall see, but it appears that he has something the feds want.

Has Hillary returned her money to Jack ??? No, only Republicans are required to return donations from people the MSM and DNC deem to be crooked.
Abramoff clients giving to Dems: OK.
Abramoff giving to Republicans: not OK.
Just one of the many double standards Republicans choose to meekly abide by.

Follow-up Story: "Latest reports confirm that Former Congressman Bob Ney will be assigned to a cell with Big Bubba who hasn't been with a woman in 10 years. Now, he'll be getting it where he has been sticking it to his constituents for years."
No sympathy here for low-life, lying, thieving, scumbag, government "servants".

Oh, right before he cut the deal, he checked himself into a rehab clinic for alcoholism. If he needs treatment, so be it, but it seems like a play for sympathy with the judge who is going to actually sentence him.

And of course no mention at all of the DEMOCRAT politicians involved in this scam, including Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid.
I wondered how the Democrat Virtual Campaigners were going to try and stop the Democrats free fall in the polls.

One notes the energy the Bush Justice Department expends in prosecuting Republicans for nickel-dime corruption, while Clinton's massive crimes remain ignored.

Just one of the many double standards Republicans choose to meekly abide by. I'm glad the repubs are held to a higher standard. Do you really want us to be held to the democrat standard ? It actually makes us the better stronger party.
I think this is also true for parents and schools who hold their children to higher standard than the rest.

Republican Rep. Bob Ney of Ohio has pleaded guiltyThis is a Fox News TANGENT ALERT!
Perhaps my memory is faulty, but until recently wasn't 'pled' the proper term to use for the past tense of 'plead' (at least in news articles?) 'Pleaded' sounds so awkward and I don't recall hearing or reading it until the last few years.

Isn't that what Duke Cunningham did? "The devil made me do it" defense. But what about my question about Dems? Were any Dems involved in this?
