Congress is working on bills that would square the Terrorist Surveillance program with FISA Court Rules. However, one bill sponsored by Republican Congresswoman Heather Wilson of New Mexico would require that we be hit with a terrorist attack before we are legally allowed to surveil. Yes, you read that correctly. Republicans are proposing a bill that says we can't initiate surveillance until after we've been struck by a terrorist attack. What would be the point of surveillance then? The attack will have already taken place; innocent Americans will have already died.

The whole point of surveilling terror suspects is to prevent a terrorist attack. What part of that do Republicans not understand?
And even if we do capture terror suspects, when we eventually try them, Senator Lindsay Graham wants to make sure their defense attorneys get complete access to all the national security methods used in capturing them. There are many, many scum defense attorneys out there who sympathize with these terrorists and will work to make sure their cohorts get that information. Bryan at Hot Air offers Lynne Stewart as one example of said scum defense attorney. Be sure to read all of Bryan's post; he has much more information.
Rob at Say Anything points out that Rep. Heather Wilson, one of eight Republicans, received a 100% rating from CAIR for supporting its interests. On the other hand, 154 Democrats received a 100% rating.

Yep. The very definition of a troll.
Squeek for me again chew toy. Be a good little sock puppet.
There was nothing to address in your first post. First it postulates the existence of a group that does not really exist here so the question cannot be answered. Secondly it does not speak about anything. Thirdly even if you let your imagination go heywire and you pretend there was actually something of substance there it is too contradictory to even reply to. There is no "Party" position here to defend or attack. Or are you under the misimpression that this Representative speaks for the Party? She does not.
Since you THINK there was some substance in that post why don't you let us all know what it was?
Sure there was. There is an ongoing debate here on FR that presupposes that merely having an "R" next to a candidates name should be enough for the voting masses. That actually standing for the basic Republican principles is meaningless.
Folks apparently like you since your first post on this thread was a DIRECT insult aimed at me.
As for this Rep's position, it defies logic that the Intel agencies could only surveil suspect terror groups AFTER they are suspected of an attack on US soil. The whole idea is utterly ridiculous.
Care to comment on that? Or will you just insult me some more?
Of course, it is ridiculous and it will go nowhere.
I hate to think of what propositions would have come out of her RAT opponent's brain. It is almost certain to be even WORSE.
Who has denied the existence of GOP stupidity? The problem is the Party of Treason stupidity is MUCH worse.
Is there one RAT you would put ANY faith in to do what was right?

We completely agree.
Who has denied the existence of GOP stupidity? The problem is the Party of Treason stupidity is MUCH worse.
There are several right here on FR that will argue against principle if it means keeping an "R" in a particular position. See the recent threads on McCain, Guilliani, Chaffe, ect... for more than ample examples. My initial question on this thread was meant only to inquire how far some of those types would be willing to accept Rat logic as their own. Nothing more, nothing less.
Is there one RAT you would put ANY faith in to do what was right?
No. Not even Lieberman. Zell Miller came close, but lost me on a host of economic issues. What chafes me most though is when Republicans act blatantly like Democrats and expect a pass on their malfeasance. That I cannot stand.
You may want to be careful here, we are dangerously close to a detente. While I would welcome this, it may cause us to be more cordial to one another... Are you ready for that? ;-)
You should see my arguments with my best friend. Most people would think we are ready to kill each other. At a family reunion my wife once thought my brothers and I were about to get in a fist fight. Strong words, ridicule, insults have never meant much in disagreements to me and never cause me to hold a grudge.
The problem is the GOP is not monolithic and positions which would not win in one part of the country are the only ones that will win in others. This means some will be more liberal than others depending upon the region. Hence an Illinois Republican is just a RINO in Georgia or Utah. And a Rhode Island Republican just a Communist in Idaho.
There is far more diversity of viewpoint within the GOP than the Party of Treason and I guess that is good but it causes problems as well.
I understand this. Really, I do. However, I do not have to like it or lend my support to it. It's illogical.
Thank you. I really need to go and get some work done. Have a good day and a great weekend...
No we do not have to like it and few on FR do.
Since this is the Bears' first home game I have a game to go to Sunday and will have a great weekend. You do the same.
We can slap each other around later on some other subject never fear.

You are with us or with our enemy.
Thanks for pinging me to this thread. I continue to be overwhelmed with the numbers of enemies we have from within. Thank God for FR and the exposure it gives these scumbags. May good conquer evil at home and abroad.
Pinging you to this important thread....
Well, duh. I see we've already been attacked, too. 09/11/01/never forget.
I swear my alarm clock is going to go off pretty soon and this will all be just a nightmare. |
