President Bush Job Approval (@47%)
Rasmussen ^
| September 14 2006

Forty-seven percent (47%) of American adults approve of the way that President Bush is performing his job. Fifty percent (50%) disapprove. Those are by far the best numbers for the President since mid-February.
The spike is fueled largely by a resurgence of support among the Presidents base. Eighty-five percent (85%) of Republicans now offer their approval. At its low point earlier in the year, just 66% of the GOP faithful approved of his job performance.
In January and much of February, the Presidents Job Approval ratings were in the mid-40s. Then, they fell sharply and have hovered around 40% ever since. Fifty percent (50%) of men and 44% of women now say they somewhat or strongly approve of the Presidents performance. Overall, 24% of Americans Strongly Approve and 38% Strongly Disapprove.
Since this is just the third day of a bounce, it remains to be seen whether this reflects lasting change or is nothing more than statistical noise. The Rasmussen Reports daily updates are based upon nightly telephone interviews and reported on a three-day rolling average basis. Most of the interviews for todays update were completed before President Bushs address to the nation two nights ago. Fridays results will be the first based entirely upon interviews conducted after the speech and after the 9/11 anniversary.

Well .. since he cannot run again .. I guess the only place he can go is home to TX.
However, I expect he will stay involved somehow.

"a lot of people are still mad about....Iraq" ?
Who is mad that we got rid of an insane dictator that could not account for WMD precursor materials, had used WMDs before, gave money to anti-American terrorists, defied the Gulf War cease fire resolutions, and was located next to Iran (an ideal place for an experiment in democracy). I can only think of the insane liberals who are "mad" about this, and who gives a crap about the insane liberals.

If this upswing continues, there is going to be a public call to amend the Constitution and allow for a third term Presidency at which point the collective heads of the wildebeest Senator from NY and her crowd will combust on national TV.

...and if that happened, she would be three heartbeats from the Presidency....now that really is a nightmare!

not too surprised, but the Bush bashing I used to here seems to be subsiding ( and i am held hostage in a blue state); London foiled plot sobering, as is 5th yr anniversary. Best argument from the President for Iraq lately has been: nut bag recalcitrant dictators with billions of dollars to spend against us and our allies should be taken out when possible.
His steadfastness in a wimpy wobbly world is what we need; deep down more people are starting (i hope) to figure that out.

"Wow are you calling them out! I like the phrase though...Political Suicide Club "Conservatives"; a nice retort to the "Country Club Republican" nonsense."
Neither faction has the numbers to win alone.
They (we) need each other. A simple fact which produces almost endless foul discussion.
And has produced a Republican in WH 28 of 40 yrs. spanning 1968 to 2008. And since 1980 has made huge gains in House, Senate, USSC, Governorships and statehouses.
We simply need our coalitions to work better than the dems.
Then we get power to do what pleases some Republicans more of the time than the alternative.
Those who don't like to watch sausage in the making shouldn't watch, or something like that.

weren't the gas lines under Carter, not Nixon? And Watergate did Nixon in?

If Bush stops talking about guest worker programs and a path to citizenship for illegals, his ratings would easily exceed 50% and his conservative base would be rock solid.

AGREED.
Thing is, would he get the New York Times vote?

We simply need our coalitions to work better than the dems. Agreed. I believe the "Reformed" party hurt more than helped but it's history now.

I saw video I hadn't seen since 2001 of the attacks. Much of what I felt then came rushing back. This year's anniversary was so stunningly clarifying to me. A lot can still happen between now and Nov, but I expect to be even more energized. Clinton & his thugs threatening ABC made me furious (as it did my parents). No matter what anyone says- on MOST of the major issues of the day- the courts, the WoT, Iraq, taxes, abortion, marriage - the Reps beat the Dems hands down. Even on immigration, they are so much better, if one focuses on the House.

Kerry beats Kerry. The fact that he's namecalling this week means he knows he's lost. Winners don't namecall, they tell jokes.

I used to think the Dims just didn't want to face up to the truth about anything, but of late have come to the conclusion they are incapable of seeing it even when it's staring them in the face. If AJ can admit there were WMD's in Iraq, why can't the Dims?

He's not talking about Country Club Republicans.
When he says that, he's talking about actual conservatives who would never willingly vote for a RINO, seemingly trying to find a way to bring down Bush (don't ask me why or how).
I know, because he has targeted me with that cr*p.
