GETTYSBURG, Pa. - A woman admitted to smoking marijuana daily with her 13-year-old son to reward him for completing his homework. Amanda Lynn Livelsberger, 30, pleaded guilty to several charges Monday and will be sentenced Nov. 27.
Livelsberger, of Conewago Township, admitted in Adams County court that she had been smoking marijuana with her son since he was 11, and that she often gave it to him as a reward.
The boy told police that he was required to do his homework as soon as he got home from school, and then was allowed to smoke marijuana with his mother, according to court documents.
Livelsberger pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of corruption of minors, possession with intent to deliver drug paraphernalia, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of a small amount of marijuana with intent to distribute.
The plea did not stipulate a sentence.
The woman also said she also smoked marijuana with two of her son's friends, ages 17 and 18, police said. The 18-year-old also told investigators he had also bought heroin from Livelsberger.
When I was in College I would't study or work on papers unless I smoked pot first.
And I graduated first in my college class with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Some people can function on pot, others can't.
So, he was a classmate of yours?
-----------
Tell the truth now -
Was that kid you?
So, then you are the model for all high school students who smoked copious amounts of dope? We should expect, then, that all dope smokers were on the honor roll, attended the University of Alabama, and work in the Art or Computer industry. Don't generalize your experience to everyone else. I knew plenty of students in high school who smoked dope and couldn't find a coherent sentence with both hands and assistance from their classroom teacher.
No, he's the son of a neighbor...That was when the kid was in high school...He's in med school now.
Did you see the public service ad where they admit that smoking pot won't turn you into a raving psycho. Now their reasoning for throwing pot smokers in jail is that they will just sit on a couch and do nothing. The mind of a Drug Warrior is a terrible waste (or something like that).
Don't generalize the good experience, but don't generalize the bad one either. Up post, I wrote of 4 in the top 10 of my high school being pot smokers. Many in the bottom quarter were too. Quite a few at both ends of the spectrum drank alcohol. Quite a few at both ends still do.
I don't want to minimize your daughters' issues with feeling different, but I'm just not convinced psychologists or counselors really impacts it at all. I too felt different, was depressed, and didn't fit in. When it occurred to me that I had to evaluate things around me based on my own observation rather than what I thought other people thought, I got over all that and got on with my life. Getting past whatever issues we have (no matter how horrific - look at the Holocaust children) is more within our own minds, and our own control. Generally psychologists and school counselors don't mention that. I'd say I was an isolated case, but I've talked to many people who had difficult childhood/teen years who've overcome it through that realization.
"That's odd. Most heavy pot users turn out to be failures in life, never achieving higher education. They become welders, construction workers, auto mechanics,"
Thanks. You just described me to a T.
I'm a mechanic/welder, and have been for about 18 years now. I am also a father of three, and I do all I can for my family.
So, next time you're driving down the road, or enjoying
heat from natural gas,(pipeline welders) or any number of things, remember us usless, ignorant welders and mechanics.
BTW, I was never a heavy drug user, and rarely do I drink.
It's just that I liked to work with my hands.
So, what do you do that makes you think your $hit don't stink?
"And IF they own a home, it's not much of one, with weeds in the poorly kept patchy lawn, at least one car parked for years to the side of the driveway with a transmission removed and tires missing,"
I ain't even gonna touch this one. Well, I might. I have quite a few cars sitting around. They're Chrysler muscle cars that my ignorant self put together. The cheapest one is worth about 25,000 dollars. From there they go up. Way up.( 440 -6 pack Road Runner, GTX, 383 Challenger, 340 Duster.... oops.. forgot the '66 Chevelle SS, and '68 Mustang)
I'm doing fine for an ignoramus.
I know we have disagreed on some things.
But I'm so sick, and tired of the whining nanny-statists,that I'm backing you guys up now. I want to keep my freedom, and I'll be damned if I'm going to participate in taking anyone else's away.
Nanny-statists. To hell with them.
BTW - I have always admired the principle expressed in your tag line. May I add you and your tag line to a best tag line list on my about page?
Yes, I was one of them. No sarcasm.
There is an appropriate time and place for alcohol - it is widely used in celebrations - even communion. There is no equivalent to pot.
So, you are unique?
