Notoriously independent-minded Rhode Island Republican Sen. Lincoln Chafee confronts stiff opposition Tuesday in his bid for a second term, the latest race with a moderate targeted by his own party's hard-line critics.
While a total of nine states and Washington, D.C., were holding primary elections, Chafee's race is drawing the most attention as another test of the depth of anti-incumbent sentiment and the erosion of the political middle ground.
Update courtesy of RobFromGa in #70:
Here are websites where you can find the results for eight of the nine primaries being held today. The link for Vermont may not be working just yet. I believe it should be up and running by this evening.
It is on CSPAN-2

I hope you have some Pepto Bismal near your keyboard.
On one hand, Keith Ellison winning being elected would give Republicans some great propoganda and PR material. But at the same time, it would mean he's in Congress.
I want Laffey to win, I just can't get excited about it, it is a non-event. It is like getting rid of some junk in the basement, and new junk gets put in its place.
they are saying on WJAR that Chafee is a moderate. What a joke.
Hanity and Colms just mentioned Elizabeth Dole is chairman of the RNC Senatorial election committee.
That explains the Rino supporting.
Arizona's polls close at 7 p.m. MST. The state of Arizona intelligently does not believe in Daylight Savings Time, and consequently there is a three hour time difference between the east coast and our desert during the summer.
Dole and Graham are not RINOs by any reasonable use of the term.
White ran a great campaign (there are at least 8 GOPers on the ballot)--I was under the impression that Ehrlich had recruited Appelbaum (a doctor from Tel Aviv West, that is, Pikesville). He is young and is a multi-millionaire. He could be real trouble for Sarbanes' son or that Stalinist in a Skirt, Paula Hollinger.
White is from Annapolis, where I live. I think it is a joke that we are in the same CD with people who live north of Baltimore some 50 miles away (our county has 450,000 people but is cut up among 4 CDs in a real 'Rat gerrymander hack job).
What are they reporting?
His presence on this one has allowed him to stall the confirmation of John Bolton.
Ravenal is the probable challenger and I don't know the area he is from.
And the point stands.
Conservatives cannot be told primaries are the answer instead of a protest vote when only 2 Republicans have fallen in, I believe, the last 25 years. Especially when the RNC chooses to interfere and even recruit Democrats to save a seat, as they have done in chafee's race.
If conservatives do not score a victory in at least one of these three Senatorial races the notion we should save it for the primaries will be exposed as manipulative hope to keep us in line in the General election.
I'm not conceding this race as no results have even come in, or future challenges, but I will not be fooled by the RNC any longer. They have made their intentions clear in in their interference with this race, Specter's and the House race for Graf.
right now they are talking about the total negativity of the Chafee/Laffey race, calling it the worst ever.
Sounds like that station leans toward having a lefty-liberal bias.
That will be a deed worth doing.
Well I am a big Pikesville White supporter. What do you predict? I'm getting very nervous, I really hope we can chuck this RINO Applebaum. By the way the Governor did not recruit him. He lies about the fact that he is the only republican supported by the Gov.
they are showing the Laffey ad and Chafee ads now...
The 2004 result was with a near favorite son on the Democratic ticket, so maybe shift points from the Democrat to Republican column. Unfortunately, this still leaves the state leaning +10 points toward the Democrat. This is only borderline doable.
It is very very interesting that that Chaffee supporter (staytrue) COMPLETELY stopped posting after Post#46 when so many of us absolutely DISTAINED his posting of the Rasmussen poll. WE WANT CHAFFEE GONE! Who cares who replaces him!
There has been "crickets" from staytrue since then...
