I asked my wife who was also there and plugged in pretty good. She doesn't remember any dog eating either, especially not as a common occurance. Someone posted a wikapedia article that says it is part of some religous ritual.

I'll not go further than saying I have lived in the philippines and worked much of my adult life with them and never heard of the practice.

I just remembered that I recently went for a Google Earth Trip to places I have lived.

I went to Subic and you can see it pretty good. I was able to locate our house. I couldn't find all the big POL storage tanks or the magazines we built.....jungle swallowd them I guess.

Well, that explains it. Poor Imelda, she certainly got razzed for having all those shoes and it wasn't even her fault. Darn MSM.

You are wrong my friend. I been to the Philippines about 11 times in the past 20 years. I've eaten dog in the Philippines. It's not as prevalent as it once was nor is it as prevalent as it is in Taiwan and other Asian nations.

I don't doubt your word. I was taken to a rather "fancy" restaurant. But he did tell me it was a delicacy....Kind of like "escargot" is here :)

Tell ya what, dog is pretty tasty if you're hungry...

And if you skewer it on bamboo, and roast it over open charcoal, it attains a kind of piquant flavor all it's own....
