I thought that it had be shown that Marcos faked at least some of his wartime biography?

You are confusing cultures..... the Filipinos don't eat dog. I think that's Korea and Vietnam. They prefer chicken and pork.

Just out of curiosity, How is PI doing in the 20 years since he is gone- better or worse?

I duuno about that, but PI sure as hell took a dive since the U.S. Fleet withdrew...Lord knows I did my part to float the local economy in Olongopo....

Imelda was a real "looker" when she was young. She represented the Philippines in the Miss Universe Pageant in the early '60s.

Tempus fugit.

I spent years working with a Filipino guy and he always made jokes like this - he may have been confused as well but he was as Filipino as they come.

I can't argue that point. I'm sure some came after him when his downward slide began.

He was a hero though in 1966. The loved and adored him.

The hell they don't! :)

One of my phillipino buddies in the Navy took me to a restaurant in Manila, where he "told" me I was eating "roast pork'.....it was delicious, that is until I found out it was DOG! He says they raise dogs there like cattle, and that it is a real delicacy.....

I'm pretty sure Subic is an industrial park and initially NAS Cubi Point became the Asia center for either UPS of Fed EX.... can't remember which.

When the Enterprise et al came to port, the liberty party was 10,000 sailors. They had to schedule them to have enough Olongopo to go around. :)

I doubt it. I was everywhere on Luzon and never had such an experience. I lived right among them and never heard of such.

You can doubt all you want, but take my word for it, it happened. I spent most of my time in Manila or Olongopo, and I would certainly have no reason to make up a lie about the subject.

A quick Google search indicates that Dog is "what's for dinner" in the Phillipines.

Oh, I know what you mean. It was always a wild time when the Ranger docked at Olongopo, and one of the other carriers like the Hancock docked at Cubi Point. Always a wild time! Plenty of lumpia, and lots of warm San Miguel to chase it with...

When I lived in Manila, I lived in San Miguel Village. Everyone there but us and my next door neighbor were San Miguel employees.

Unending beer....
