The percentage of Americans who blame the Bush administration for the September 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington has risen from almost a third to almost half over the past four years, a CNN poll released Monday found.
Asked whether they blame the Bush administration for the attacks, 45 percent said either a "great deal" or a "moderate amount," up from 32 percent in a June 2002 CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll.
But the Clinton administration did not get off lightly either. The latest poll, conducted by Opinion Research Corporation for CNN, found that 41 percent of respondents blamed his administration a "great deal" or a "moderate amount" for the attacks.
That's only slightly less than the 45 percent who blamed his administration in a poll carried out less than a week after the attacks.
Still, most Americans appear to be fatalistic, with more than half -- 57 percent -- saying they think that terrorists will "always find a way to launch attacks no matter what the U.S. government does."
The poll was carried out August 30 through September 2 by Opinion Research Corp. with 1,004 American adults questioned by telephone. The sampling error for the questions was 3%

Also as of April 1, 2001 the Bush Administration's attention was focused on the downing of an EP-3 Orion which was tracking a Victor III Class submarine in international waters by the Chinese and the subsequent detention of its crew.
That's what happens when you do all your polling in the Blue States. All I have to say is "How do you fight a law and order war?" Don't forget that the first few months on Bush's watch, his cabinet was still being assembled. If they called me, I would give BJ Clinton 99% of the blame.
I see I'm short some synapses in understanding how this industry works. But, if premiums are invested, I would think the impact isn't as bad as I had supposed.
Leftist Psy Ops and Black Propoganda to counter educational effects of "The Road to 9/11."
More of these liberal "hit pieces" will appear as the election approaches. Senile ravings of an elitist mentality on the road to extinction. Snigger and ignore.
In the interview I heard this morning with the victim's husband, he insinuated that Bush was at fault because there was so much "chatter" indicating that an attack was imminent, but the USG ignored the warnings. I find that amazing. The point is that the USG can never protect us against all threats, no matter what is in the Constitution. The same holds true for disasters like Katrina.
However, Bush's blame is due to keeping all of Clinton crony's in their previous positions of power...and incompetentcy!
That's BS. All politicial appointees must submit their resignations on change of administrations. Aside from Tenet, what cronies are you specifically referring to?
Bush administration: 45% up from 32% in a June 2002.
Clinton administration 41% down from 45% less than a week after the attacks.
The sampling error for the questions was 3%

So 42% vs. 44%? There appears to be NO change in the Clinton Administration's poll numbers when you factor in the margin of error.
And while some may believe that Bush's response to 9-11 is INCREASING the amount of terrorism in the world (a false premise), this does nothing to push the BLAME of the 9-11 attacks on President Bush.
Don't forget that the Dems and media cohorts COMPLAINED when Bush started announcing who he would pick for his administration before the court cases had been settled.
They said that it was presumptuous for him to be making such decisions before a conclusion had been made.
Zogby ran BOGUS numbers as the election neared and even ON election day.
Don't let the liars get you down.
Think of it this way: How many Insurers do you remember going out of business after 9/11? Exactly.
Caller ID probably keeps out some poll callers as well.
That's right!
Not true they can be fired. The state department for one! Richard Clark for another.
As someone who has worked for the USG for 36 years, including 28 in the State Department, you are totally and absolutely wrong. Clarke was a career employee in a Schedule C position. He could and was replaced by Condi, but he could not be fired without cause. The Plum book has a list of all the political appointee jobs in the government.
We will never know how many lives were saved due to the diligence of customs agent Diana Dean.
The new MSM secret weapon, skewed polls blaming Bush for 911. If this was really the case then Bush wouldn't have won reelection with the first majority in a lot of years. It's not human nature to reelect a politician accused of having basically killed almost 3000 people.
exactly!!
So typical of CNN.... And they wonder why their numbers are down..
Love it, and right on..
yet, the liberals say Bush divided the nation. Nothing could be further from the truth. The liberals are even divided amongst themselves, i.e. whacky vs. whackier vs. whackiest vs. Howard Dean.
