I didn't know if there was a west coast version of this thread. It didn't make sense to post on a show that was almost over on the East Coast.

yes, remember that Massoud's assassination immediately preceded the attack on America on 9-11. God rest Massoud. He had Bin Laden and the US govt pegged for what they were/are.

Probably a gift from Bin Laden to his taliban hosts, or some type of quid pro quo between them.

Many many brave people have died unnoticed in this war while islamist fanatics seek to kill ever more of us in ever more terrible ways. And liberals rage about our corruption for forcing terrorist prisoner suspects to wear panties on their heads and listen to rock music.

Completely disagree with you. This was a very well done movie and if anything whitewashed the level of incompetence of the clinton administration.

His fear of having a picture of a dead baby on nationwide news while the Lewinsky affair was going on was his overriding fear. He was completely disengaged with terrorism and never truly understood what they were capable of.

Pray for W and Our Freedom Fighters

I didn't see this danger being highlighted as I would have liked to have seen. In fact, I would say it was fairly airbrushed out save for the occasional reference. To me at least, they portrayed Yusef as just some deranged madman who liked to build bombs and kill people. They did not highlight motivations well enough.

I don't think it hit us over the head, but the islamic overtones especially in opening scenes and of 9-11 hijackers, and all scenes that took place in middle east gave you the necessary context. Doing more would make it appear to be a muslim hate film. What it did was connect all the history of the 10 years leading to 9-11 into a common collective jihad against the great satan America. It subtly creates an image of America unknowingly under an islamic siege. We must now as a nation, understand that the war is escalating and will end in victory for one side, and total defeat for the other. At stake is the survival of a civilization. Which one will it be? Just contrast in your mind the orderly secure scenes in America, with the wild, chaotic middle eastern poverty and desperation.

Regarding your assertion that Clinton is being criticized unfairly because the first World Trade Center bombing was one month after his inauguration, nobody is blaming Clinton FOR the bombing happening. Instead, Clinton is criticized for not retaliating for the 1993 bombing

Bingo. THAT is the the point. By NOT retaliating, Clinton set us up for ever greater escalation by these emboldened psychopaths. And his administration has 8 long years of track record of not retaliating EFFECTIVELY - which this movie points out to those who have forgotten or didn't pay attention. And this is not conjecture- Bin Laden discussed on his released tapes how our fleeing from Somalia proved we were an enemy he could defeat.

Hence the title of this mini-series- "THE PATH TO 9-11"
.
BTW, it is telling that the 1993 attack on the WTC was called an unprecedented terrorist attack on American soil. Yet recall, Bill Clinton never even visited the scene of the 1993 WTC attack. Too few victims for a good photo op? Too much head in the sand? And yet the 1993 WTC attack was the real first shot of the war we are currently in. The one the democrats blame on George Bush and his adminstration.

I doubt this movie will cover the fact that a NY court found FOR the defendants who filed suit against IRAQ for supporting and funding the 1993 WTC attack.

Interesting about Egypt Air. Time to look that up.

The NTSB has the transcript available online. One of the questions the captain asks shortly before the crash is "what is wrong with you; why did you wear all red." Eerie stuff.

Probably. But I don't believe hearing anything from the White House or the Congressional Republicans threatening to pull ABC's broadcasting license. chirp...chirp...chirp.

Nope. I didn't.

Exactly. Libs are married to a destructive dangerous ideology that has been proved so over the last 10 years of American history. They are now in denial, and simply can't allow the truth of what they have sown come to roost on an already dying movement. Additionally, clinton is a lying, immoral, sham of a human being so no surprise how he would react to legitimate criticism.

No, according to Redstate.org, 32 mins were trimmed from the movie. They have the deleted clips online there.

If someone is alive, they can always protest if someone violates their right to privacy. If someone is dead, that right to privacy is, as we both agree, no longer relevant.

If only someone could have convinced Janet Reno that Bin Laden had a compound where he preached religious beliefs, was armed with automatic weapons, and that he molested children. By gar, THAT would have spurred her into action! Rough tough Janet, grrrrrrrr.

1. The movie was 20 minutes short because, when it is re-run in the future, there will be time allocated for commercial breaks. There was nothing sinister about the 20-minute early conclusion.

2. ABC did a good job. The overall point was made that Clinton and his minions refused to look at terrorism beyond a law enforcement matter; and that we would only remain on defense and react to any attack.

3. There is nothing that ABC can do tonight to further damage the Bush Administration; the evening news takes care of that 24/7/365.

I'd like to know some ratings. And how ABC intends to handle the presidential address tonight - break in the middle of the film?

I'm glad they edited the impeachment part, because they were going to lay the blame at House Republicans, not at the liar in chief. Clinton was left seen as a wimp on national security and a liar on other matters.

--I was impressed with the Philippina cop who snagged Ramzi Yusef. She was good!--

She didn't nab Yusef - she nabbed his accomplish, who was a pilot. Yusef was nabbed later.

--And, ABC's follow up commentary with Terry Moron from Afghanistan will, I'm sure, be very objective.. NOT!

It wasn't.--

Oh, as soon as I saw Terry Moran's mug, I wanted to throw my glass at the TV screen. I can't stand the smirk on that dork's face. Then he talks about how we're now losing in Afghanistan.

I don't believe a word the guy said. Things may be rough in Afghanistan, but he made it sound like the US military was about to be routed.

Tool.

Yes, but those clips were NOT deleted, just a few seconds of the first clip was deleted. Perhaps ABC intended to delete them but then got some cojones at the last minute and did not.

Thirty years ago, at another network, we had a battle going on between the network and the producer of a show. The network wanted him to make a change, and he refused. They went back and forth for a couple of days, then the network decided to make the change on its own. The network's paying for the show, and they have the ultimate authority, so that's their right.

The network executive arrived, and showed me the scene and what she wanted out. The edit would have been truly ugly, so I suggested several smoother ways to make the cut. She told me that she WANTED the edit to be as ugly as possible as an object lesson to the producer regarding what happens if you question the net's authority. Looking at that impeachment lift, I have to wonder whether some of the same dynamic was in play here.

This was a very well done movie and if anything whitewashed the level of incompetence of the clinton administration.

It is way too "artsy". Remember those old AT&T commercials where the guy is talking about his phone bill while the camera pans around his desk and his kneecap while jiggling and panning? This was a three-hour version of that. They could have told the very same story with the very same message in a much more straightforward way and probably been more effective.

I don't disagree with the premise of the movie or its need to be told. I just think it would have been far more powerful without all the visual tricks and useless cutaway shots. They must think we have the attention span of a gnat.

My thinking is that I don't need a Giulliani to "look out for all of us" or me. I look to God to do that. God seems to be the last One any one thinks about any more in our increasingly secular nation. Your view of politics adds to the secularist gaining ground. We all will have to stand before God some day and justify our choices here on earth. I can not in good conscience justify killing unborn babies by voting for politicians who would permit this never ending atrocity to continue.

I like your "post-it" analogy. I have also been of the opinion that Clinton didn't share information with Bush because from the very beginning Clinton wanted to undercut Bush any way he could. And he is still doing so with the assistance of the MSM. It is too bad Bush's speech tonight is timed for the middle of ABC's Path to 9-11 Part II. I think I will have to cut away from ABC to watch Bush. Why couldn't the Bush people schedule his speech for 6:00? It is these kind of mistakes that get to me.

Why would you have to cut away? They will be interrupting the movie to show Bush's speech. He will be on all channels.
