I'm glad they edited the impeachment part, because they were going to lay the blame at House Republicans, not at the liar in chief. Clinton was left seen as a wimp on national security and a liar on other matters.

Thirty years ago, at another network, we had a battle going on between the network and the producer of a show. The network wanted him to make a change, and he refused. They went back and forth for a couple of days, then the network decided to make the change on its own. The network's paying for the show, and they have the ultimate authority, so that's their right.

The network executive arrived, and showed me the scene and what she wanted out. The edit would have been truly ugly, so I suggested several smoother ways to make the cut. She told me that she WANTED the edit to be as ugly as possible as an object lesson to the producer regarding what happens if you question the net's authority. Looking at that impeachment lift, I have to wonder whether some of the same dynamic was in play here.
