Don't miss it, my Freeper friends. It's no wonder the Clintonistas have thrown everything at ABC/Disney, in a desperate effort to have the miniseries cancelled. Documents exactly what we've been following over the years on FR. Brave agents on the ground in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Dedicated people at Langley and the J. Edgar Hoover building, working around the clock to capture or kill Bin Laden, Ramzi Yusef et al. And all their efforts derailed by Clinton appointees like Berger and Allbright- selfishly putting their own careers (and covering their asses) before protecting the USA. The line of the show delivered by the actor playing Masood, brave and charismatic leader of the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan:

...are there any men left in Washington? Or are they all cowards?....

Path to 9/11...might as well say path to social security bankruptcy...nothing gets any attention. That is, the true perps. I know the terrorists did it, but our government in all it's glory has once again 'done it' to us.

The only real problem with the version shown on Channel 7 here in Sydney was that there where commercial breaks every 15-20 minutes for 5 minutes or so. It will be interesting to see what the rating are, but my guess is only the most dedicated would have been able to sit through the whole thing. In the short bursts I saw it did seem that the Berger and Albright scenes had been left pretty much in tact. Massod's line was by far an away the best of the night, though the pure psychotic nature of Ramsy Toosef came through well also.

Maybe, just maybe, the executives at ABC put national security first and foremost.

You know, I have been wondering this for quite a while. It is SO out of character for a major network to do something like this that it makes me think that perhaps (could we be so blessed?) someone, probably unknown, way at the top of ABC actually recognizes the serious danger our country is in. I sincerely hope this is the case.

It just doesn't follow that ABC would do this. It doesn't make sense.

Based on comments I have read here and there by the writer, the director, and the Executive producer, I truly believe that this project was motivated by a desire to truthfully show how we got from first bombing of WTC to 9/11.

Their hope was that Americans would be more clearly aware of the enemy that we face and would demand MORE action from the government in protecting us and standing up to the terrorists. (You can see some of that perspective in the director's posts on the movie's blog, and Marc Platt's comments (Exec prod) can easily be found with a search -- I don't have a link for you).

Anyway, I think they and ABC had the motive of NOT being political with this, but trying to honestly tell the story as a public service with our safety in mind. That's a good enough motive for me.

NOTE: Most of those who post here and on the leftist blogs ARE so political about how we think about daily events that it seems astonishing that anyone would do a project like this WITHOUT political motives. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and believe their public statements about their motives -- particularly because I trust the integrity of director Cunningham.
